Fall has officially arrived, and kids of all ages have headed back to school to learn the basics: reading, writing and arithmetic. But they're not the only ones hitting the books. Professionals, college students and hobbyist programmers all over the world are getting back in the classroom (virtually and physically) to polish their development skills.

But why? We all know that in this ever-changing industry it is critical to keep up with the latest trends, learn what has become obsolete and remain on the forefront of emerging technologies. Ideally, the hard-earned dollars and time you spend on honing your skills result in more money, career advancement and efficiency increases.

But, from an educator's point of view, it's not always easy to expose developers/students to the breadth of new technologies coming down the pike every year. Beyond the technologies themselves, the additional headache of configuring tools to work with these new technologies can incorporate such a time and productivity drain that simply "getting ready to learn" can make the actual learning prohibitive.

Now, new tools such as Pulse are making their way into the training environment to eliminate this tedious "workspace setup" process, so the valuable time in the classroom is spent learning how to use new tools, as opposed to wasting time putting them in your tool stack.

Ken Kousen, an adjunct professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, put it this way in our recent Pulse podcast:

"Looking at academic and training settings, they are a little bit different. In a training setting, one of the real challenges the training classes face every time is getting the initial classroom set up correct. That is often very involved and complicated, because a lot of the tools involved are somewhat dependent on each other and dependent on environment variables and things like that.

So, trying to set up standard Pulse configurations and then being able to set up a classroom using those shared deployments is a very interesting opportunity..."
