    The menu bar appears to be broken on Ubuntu 16.04. In addition, most buttons have no padding and are very hard to read. Please see the images in the imgur album below. I also saw these messages while installing eclipse so maybe they have something to do with this:

    $ ./eclipse-inst

    (java:19835): Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "adwaita",

    samr28,

    Sorry that you are seeing this problem. Thank you for the screenshot.
    We could not replicate the problem on Ubuntu 16.04 at our end.

    Can you please share with us the Eclipse version details from Help > About Eclipse section?
    Also let us know which desktop environment you are working with and the Java version which is used to run Eclipse.

    Apologies for inconvenience caused.

    I’m using Eclipse Oxygen.3a Release (4.7.3a).

    $ java -version
    java version "1.8.0_161"
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_161-b12)
    Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.161-b12, mixed mode)

    Using KDE Neon 5.12
    – Plasma: 5.12.4
    – Frameworks: 5.44.0
    – Qt: 5.10.0

    I also had this problem when using KDE + Debian so it might be something related to KDE.

    samr28,

    Thank you for the details. We could replicate the problem at our end with dark themes using KDE.
    I have filed a bug for the dev team to work on it. We will keep you posted when the fix is out.

    Apologies for inconvenience caused. Thank you for reporting it.

    I had the exact same issue on my desktop at work. I tested my laptop and the issue was present, just as described above. Both machines running Oxygen 3a on Kde Neon.

    However I did discover a workaround.

    Changing GTK style options in KDE:
    System Settings -> Application Style -> GNOME Application Style
    I changed GTK2 and GTK3 theme to Breeze-Dark

    I then applied the changes and restarted eclipse.

    Now the menu and context menu were corrected.

    I have replicated this on both my machines and another colleague’s workstation as well

    Hope this helps
