This looks related to JDK6 JVM issue: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=255397

Started Eclipse with JD5, and sockets problem disappears.

This sucks big time. MyEclipse 7.1 even comes with Java6 /by default/. For the moment I was able to change that only by myeclipse-common/binary# ln -s /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun com.sun.java.jre.linux.x86_64_1.6.0.012

    mnott,
Did you setup MyEclipse 7.1 using the all in one installer? Can you go to MyEclipse > Installation Summary > Installation Details and paste the information here for me.

    mnott,
Your Java version is 1.5.0_17. ME is shipped with 1.5 unless you change it manually.
