Sorry that you are seeing this problem.
It looks like there is a problem downloading the required dependency to your maven local repository.

1. Are you behind a firewall or proxy? If yes, then did you setup the proxy details in the IDE here : Window > Preferences > General > Network Connections? In addition to setting up proxy details in the IDE, you should also configure the maven settings.xml with the proxy details and set the path to the settings.xml file in the IDE here : Window>Preferences>MyEclipse>Maven4MyEclipse>User Settings

If the settings.xml file is not yet there, then you need to create one called settings.xml in [user]/.m2 directory and add in the bits for the proxy: http://maven.apache.org/settings.html

2. Can you please clarify if there is a folder for 2.6 in
[user home]/.m2/repository/org/apache/maven/plugins/maven-resources-plugin/ ? If yes, then delete it, right click on the project > Maven > Update Project, check ‘Force Update of Stapshots/Releases’ and see if it fixes the problem.

3. If the above suggestion does not work, then you can add the missing plugin entry to the project’s pom.xml, try the Maven > Update Project with ‘Force Update of Stapshots/Releases’ checked. Once the Maven downloads the plugin, you can remove the entry from the pom.xml.
Here is the code snippet to add to the pom.xml :

4. If none of the suggestions work, then please share with us the complete workspace log file located at workspace dir/.metadata/.log (rename it to .txt and attach it) along with details about your network, if you have any anti virus software running which might be blocking the download of the plugins from the maven repo etc.

Apologies for inconvenience caused. Please let us know how you get on with it.

Our next update CI 2018.9.0 is out and it adds connectors for latest WildFly versions (12 and 13) which support JavaEE 8 applications.

Please update from Help > Check for Updates and let us know if you see any issues.

Thank you for the details. Tomcat 9 supports JavaEE 8. I have filed a report with the dev team to update our embedded Tomcat server version to 9.

We are also adding support for newer versions of WildFly (WildFly 13) which support JavaEE 8 in our next update. We will keep you posted when the update is out.

Please let us know if you see any other issues.

The issue is resolved. Below are the steps I took to be able to deploy.

1. Is the project a maven based web project?

YES. Please share with us the Java and Dynamic Web Module versions of the project by right clicking on the project > Properties > Project Facets. Dynamic Web Module: 4.0; Java: 1.8

2. Is the project created newly in MyEclipse 2018 or you are working with an existing project?

Newly created project in Eclipse 2018

3. If you are trying to deploy a JavaEE 8 project to Tomcat 8.5, then the project will not show up for deployment as Tomcat 8.5 supports only till JavaEE 7. If you are working with a different server, then please share with us more details about the server and its version to help us investigate further.

Yes, I was trying to deploy a JavaEE8 to Tomcat 8.5. However I didn’t realize Tomcat was a default in this version. I am using Wildfly app. Server. I decided to switch Java EE version to JavaEE 6 –Web 3.0 and the Java version and JSTL version set automatically. After this change I was able to deploy!

Sorry that you are seeing this issue. It could be an issue with incompatible web application version with the targeted server.

Can you please give us some more details?

1. Is the project a maven based web project? Please share with us the Java and Dynamic Web Module versions of the project by right clicking on the project > Properties > Project Facets.

2. Is the project created newly in MyEclipse 2018 or you are working with an existing project?

I’m unable to add or remove any deployments:
“There are no resources that can be added or removed from the server”

I’ve googled and found instructions for updating Java in the Project Facets, but that didn’t work.

Thanks!

Sorry that you are seeing this issue. This looks like a Maven specific issue rather than a MyEclipse one.

1. How exactly did you convert a Java project to Maven project? Please list the steps in detail to help us investigate further.
2. Are you seeing the error in the pom.xml or in the Console view when running the Maven goal?
3. Can you try cleaning the project and then updating the project by right clicking on the project > Maven > Update Project and see if the error goes away?
4. If the above suggestion does not help, then please share with us the project files to help us replicate the problem at our end. If you have constraints sharing the source files, then please omit the source files and send us all the .* files (.settings folder, .project, .classpath etc) of the project along with the pom.xml. Also share with us the version of MyEclipse you are working with from Help > About MyEclipse section.

Apologies for inconvenience caused.

Attached is the zip containing the missing facet metadata files which you can copy into your project’s .settings folder.

Shut down MyEclipse and in the file system explorer unzip the contents of the attached zip into your project’s .settings folder (leave the rest of files as it is). Once done, start MyEclipse and check if the problem still exists.

If you are still seeing the issue, please clarify if you are seeing the problem in all the maven projects in the workspace. If possible, switch to a new workspace, check if the issue persists and send us the .log file located at workspace dir/.metadata/.log for further investigation.

Apologies for inconvenience caused. Please let us know how it works for you.

What version of MyEclipse are you coming from – in which this project worked fine?

MyEclipse CI 7 worked very well, starting from CI 8 I saw problems.

Did you modify the project properties or metadata yourself?

No.

Can you see your project listed in the Workspace Migration view? Window > Show View > General > Workspace Migration.

The view is empty, I didn’t see any project to migrate.
