Sorry that you are seeing this issue.

1. Can you please clarify if this problem is specific to building/installing one particular maven project or does it happen with all the maven projects in that workspace?

2. Please switch to a new workspace and check if the problem persists there as well. If yes, then please share with us the workspace log file by clicking on the icon for ‘Export Log’ in the Error Log view, save it as text file and attach it here to help us check for any errors/exceptions logged.

3. Is there a specific reason why you are working with older version of MyEclipse 2017 Stable? Stable 2.0 is the latest in that stream and I suggest you update to 2.0 from Help > Check for Updates.

The build/install completes successfully when appropriate, however, I receive no feedback for when a maven build or install fails. I have reset, closed and re-opened the Java Enterprise perspective, closed/re-opened MEB, and even re-booted my Win 10 machine. No luck. Other consoles display output, this only affects the maven console.

I am using:
MyEclipse Enterprise Workbench

Apache Maven 3.2.2

Thank you for the detailed steps and screenshots. I could replicate the problem at my end with your steps.
I have filed a bug report for the dev team to look into it. We will keep you posted about the fix.

Apologies for inconvenience caused. Thank you once again for reporting it.

today i created a new workspace and two simple new maven projects (new project -> maven project -> without archetype selection):
TestBase
TestUser

TestUser has a Dependency to TestBase in test scope. When i toggle the without test code option in the project properties modal dialog, i can see that the [without test code] mark in the project tree’s maven dependency is cleared, but shortly after that it is restored without any actions.

the error log says nothing but:
Using platform encoding (Cp1252 actually) to copy filtered resources, i.e. build is platform dependent!

it’s a fresh myeclipse installation from offline installer.

greetings,

klaus

Sorry that you are seeing this issue.
We ran a couple of quick tests and do see the setting being persisted. I see the default state as No in my tests.

Can you please switch to a new workspace and check if you still see the problem? If yes, then please share with us the workspace log file by clicking on the icon for ‘Export Log’ in the Error Log view, save it as text file and attach it here. Also share with us the screenshot of the Maven Dependencies under the Libraries tab to help us get a visual.

Apologies for inconvenience caused.

when I try to toggle the “without test code” switch from Yes to No at Java-Build-Path -> Libraries -> Maven Dependencies and press apply and close, the changes are not recognized and the value is in its default state (without test code: Yes) after reopening the project properties.

Am I doing something wrong or is it a known bug?

As a workaround i tried to add the project directly (java-build-path -> projects) and toggle the switch to include test sources from the other project, but this seems to be ignored. At least the state of the toggle is preserved.

greetings,

klaus

Sorry that you are seeing this problem.
It looks like there is a problem downloading the required dependency to your maven local repository.

1. Are you behind a firewall or proxy? If yes, then did you setup the proxy details in the IDE here : Window > Preferences > General > Network Connections? In addition to setting up proxy details in the IDE, you should also configure the maven settings.xml with the proxy details and set the path to the settings.xml file in the IDE here : Window>Preferences>MyEclipse>Maven4MyEclipse>User Settings

If the settings.xml file is not yet there, then you need to create one called settings.xml in [user]/.m2 directory and add in the bits for the proxy: http://maven.apache.org/settings.html

2. Can you please clarify if there is a folder for 2.6 in
[user home]/.m2/repository/org/apache/maven/plugins/maven-resources-plugin/ ? If yes, then delete it, right click on the project > Maven > Update Project, check ‘Force Update of Stapshots/Releases’ and see if it fixes the problem.

3. If the above suggestion does not work, then you can add the missing plugin entry to the project’s pom.xml, try the Maven > Update Project with ‘Force Update of Stapshots/Releases’ checked. Once the Maven downloads the plugin, you can remove the entry from the pom.xml.
Here is the code snippet to add to the pom.xml :

4. If none of the suggestions work, then please share with us the complete workspace log file located at workspace dir/.metadata/.log (rename it to .txt and attach it) along with details about your network, if you have any anti virus software running which might be blocking the download of the plugins from the maven repo etc.

Apologies for inconvenience caused. Please let us know how you get on with it.

Our next update CI 2018.9.0 is out and it adds connectors for latest WildFly versions (12 and 13) which support JavaEE 8 applications.

Please update from Help > Check for Updates and let us know if you see any issues.

Thank you for the details. Tomcat 9 supports JavaEE 8. I have filed a report with the dev team to update our embedded Tomcat server version to 9.

We are also adding support for newer versions of WildFly (WildFly 13) which support JavaEE 8 in our next update. We will keep you posted when the update is out.

Please let us know if you see any other issues.

The issue is resolved. Below are the steps I took to be able to deploy.

1. Is the project a maven based web project?

YES. Please share with us the Java and Dynamic Web Module versions of the project by right clicking on the project > Properties > Project Facets. Dynamic Web Module: 4.0; Java: 1.8

2. Is the project created newly in MyEclipse 2018 or you are working with an existing project?

Newly created project in Eclipse 2018

3. If you are trying to deploy a JavaEE 8 project to Tomcat 8.5, then the project will not show up for deployment as Tomcat 8.5 supports only till JavaEE 7. If you are working with a different server, then please share with us more details about the server and its version to help us investigate further.

Yes, I was trying to deploy a JavaEE8 to Tomcat 8.5. However I didn’t realize Tomcat was a default in this version. I am using Wildfly app. Server. I decided to switch Java EE version to JavaEE 6 –Web 3.0 and the Java version and JSTL version set automatically. After this change I was able to deploy!

Sorry that you are seeing this issue. It could be an issue with incompatible web application version with the targeted server.

Can you please give us some more details?

1. Is the project a maven based web project? Please share with us the Java and Dynamic Web Module versions of the project by right clicking on the project > Properties > Project Facets.

2. Is the project created newly in MyEclipse 2018 or you are working with an existing project?

Sorry that you are seeing this issue. This looks like a Maven specific issue rather than a MyEclipse one.

1. How exactly did you convert a Java project to Maven project? Please list the steps in detail to help us investigate further.
2. Are you seeing the error in the pom.xml or in the Console view when running the Maven goal?
3. Can you try cleaning the project and then updating the project by right clicking on the project > Maven > Update Project and see if the error goes away?
4. If the above suggestion does not help, then please share with us the project files to help us replicate the problem at our end. If you have constraints sharing the source files, then please omit the source files and send us all the .* files (.settings folder, .project, .classpath etc) of the project along with the pom.xml. Also share with us the version of MyEclipse you are working with from Help > About MyEclipse section.

Apologies for inconvenience caused.
