SDC delivery pizzaGetting all the right software packages to the right teams is not your regular pizza delivery! Our Secure Delivery Center (SDC) has been making administrators’ lives easy by allowing them to provide end users with software, manage licenses, software updates, rollouts, and standardization — all from one spot. Located behind your firewall, it has hosted a variety of delicious combos: software packs and third-party software add-ons, while allowing developers to check out a variety of software “restaurants”. Do you prefer an IntelliJ crust with plug-ins on top? Or maybe you like that lovely Eclipse thin-crust topped off with your favorite Webclipse and Darkest Dark plug-ins? Even security and Secure Marketplace catalogs for Eclipse-based software installations can be managed.

Providing excellent service has always been Genuitec’s priority, so after six years of being there for you, this software distribution manager keeps adding yummy ingredients to its menu. A new version of SDC will be out the door later on this month. One of the main features of this SR1 is the improvement on the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) configuration: you will be able to specify if you want to download JRE on Windows and Linux if you don’t have it installed (and there is no need to have Java on your machine).

The Popular Software pack has also received a makeover, allowing you to grab software from the marketplace and provide the latest versions of plug-ins — all in one place. Improvements on the Internet Explorer 11 support (without compatibility mode) is also a tastier experience now — an excellent tool to rely on if your company’s employees are not allowed to use the latest version of Explorer and/or the OS. Besides, support proxy has been renewed (no more issues with http proxies support in Eclipse).

That’s not all! The base version of SDC has been upgraded to Eclipse 4.6.2. The added value? Since Eclipse now has a Preference Recorder for your workspace, in our SDC you will be able to share those Preferences by modifying them and exporting just the changes, without dealing with the whole Preferences set.

A few more small ingredients added to the SDC special dough mix also make a difference in the end. Now there is a “Log Out” option, as well as a “Remember Me” checkbox. It might not seem like a big deal, but it’s pretty nice not to have to reenter your credentials every single time you get ready to ship yet another order out. And for those whose palate prefers an exquisite touch, fresh-looking webfont icons are a great pick!
