Java Pack 7u51- Get it here.

Posted on Jan 23rd 2014

javaatgenuitec_finalWhat's New @Java. - Jarsigner now encourages timestamping: The new jarsigner will encourage you to use a timestamp URL to avoid taking unexpected hits when a certificate expires.

- Default Socket Permissions: Applications that open listener ports, e.g. servers,  will run into security issues now because Java limits which sockets you can bind to without modifying the security policy.  A good tutorial on how to do this can be found at here.

- Clearing of Remembered Decisions: If you've accidentally selected incorrect or unnecessary security alerts, this release will now let you easily clear out our selections so you can always be sure you have only the settings you really want.

- JAXP Xalan DOM Implementation: Now when you have a Security Manager in your application, JAXP will always use the default DOM implementation. This should only affect those of you who have replaced the DOM implementation in your application. For additional details on the release, you can read the full release notes here. What you'll see from Genuitec. Applet Security: For this pack update, SDC will now include support for the applet security issues. SDC now ships with web installation flows turned off by default to ensure users avoid receiving notifications that applets may be insecure. Users can easily turn applet support on by selecting the re-enable the option on the Access Policy page of the Admin Console. web_flow_disabled Grab your Java here. In an effort to keep you and your team up-to-date with the latest tools, Genuitec will now be making the Java packs available within a week of their release. The Voice Behind the Genuitec Curtain

Posted on Jan 16th 2014

curtain You’ve heard her soothing voice on our videos giving you the latest scoop on all things new and awesome at Genuitec, but have you ever wondered just WHO is the owner of that southern voice?

Her name is Lara, and she’s the Educational Media Developer for our Marketing Team here at Genuitec, though we think of her as our “Oz” behind the curtain. Lara has been with the Genuitec team for just shy of 3 years and is largely responsible for establishing new and updating tutorials, documents and videos to keep our customers up to date with the latest tips, tricks and helps for our products.

While our very Oz is a quiet sort and prefers to stay safely behind the curtain, she's granted us with a peek behind that curtain which oddly enough turns out to be a closet!

Oz, I mean Lara, is so dedicated to giving lara_closetour customer base the clearest sounding tutorials and videos that she resorted to completing all recordings from her closet.  Here Lara utilizes her clothing as insulation for her very unique recording studio or closet as the case may be to ensure you'll hang on every southern word spoken. Please rest assured that we've requested that the good people of Oz help her out with a pop-up studio so she can be a bit more comfortable than she appears in this rare snapshot. Haven't heard the voice of Genuitec yet? Re-think Cloud and Mobile with MyEclipse 2014

Posted on Jan 3rd 2014

Yesterday Wired magazine published a guest piece on the demise of legacy applications and the importance of “rethinking existing business process systems for the new opportunities and constraints of cloud.” After outlining some common rationalizations on why CIOs stray from the move over to cloud development, writer Michael Beckley points out one critical fact - “designing for cloud and mobile first is not more expensive or difficult."

We agree, 110%! Designing for the cloud or for mobile devices doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. It can be a simple and efficient process with the help of MyEclipse 2014, your modern application development platform "with integral cloud and mobile baked-in" and ready for consumption. Captura de pantalla 2013-12-19 a la(s) 13.50.27 Designed for a cloud-first strategy, MyEclipse 2014 lets you easily adapt legacy applications for the cloud and for cross-platform devices. With a unique blend of mobile tools, Java EE 7 technologies, and of course, Genuitec’s amazing blend of server connectors and in-house tooling, you can “avoid the legacy trap” and easily “treat cloud and mobile as integral to an application design.” Simply put, MyEclipse 2014 helps you move your legacy applications to the cloud for instant consumption by your team and for your customers, and allows you to future-proof your "software and solutions investments against the future demands and needs of the business." And the best part, we can get you mobilized for the cloud for as little as $32 per user per year! Yes, traditional legacy applications are a fading practice, but that truth doesn’t have to be bitter. Let MyEclipse 2014 help you make the would-be frustrating process a bit sweeter and help your team adopt the cloud-first strategy that is quickly becoming a standard for enterprises that are delivering "remarkable success." If you’re interested in learning more about how MyEclipse 2014 can mobilize your team and help you move your legacy apps to the cloud, click the button below to schedule a demo.
