ChangeReview for Eclipse: Keep Up With Your AI Agent

Today we are releasing the first early access build of ChangeReview, a new Eclipse plugin from Genuitec for reviewing code changes right where you write code. If you use an AI coding agent, you already know the problem it solves. The agent can change more code in a minute than you can comfortably read in ten, and most of those edits land in your workspace long before they ever reach a commit or a pull request.

We built ChangeReview because we wanted to see every change, ours and the agent’s, in the editor we already use. We also wanted to keep or drop each change on its own with a click.

Four features work together:
  • Live Review: view changes directly in your editor as live inline diff
  • Inline Compare: toggle the Compare Editor between side-by-side and inline diff
  • Time Machine: step through a file’s history, with agent changes tracked
  • Agent Review: review and manage the code changes your AI agent makes

Live Review: see changes directly in your editor

Live Review turns the editor you already work in into a review surface.
  • Inline diff presentation – added lines show in green and deleted lines appear as red gaps, inline
  • Your syntax coloring stays intact, so the code reads the way it always does
  • Accept, discard, or revert each change individually as you step through
  • Works on the changes in your workspace now, before they reach Git
Why it matters: you review each change in context and catch problems while they’re still cheap to fix.

Inline Compare: a new presentation mode for the Compare Editor

Inline Compare adds an inline diff mode to Eclipse’s two-pane Compare Editor.

  • One toggle collapses the side-by-side split into a single inline pane
  • Uses the same green and red rendering as Live Review
  • Switch between side-by-side and inline at any time without losing your place
  • No need to close the editor or reopen files
Why it matters: you pick the view that makes each change easiest to read, without breaking your flow.

Time Machine: navigate a file’s history, agent changes included

Time Machine shows how a file got to where it is.

  • Step back through a timeline of the file’s history, one point at a time
  • See each version with its changes rendered inline, just like Live Review
  • Tell at a glance which edits came from the agent, which you made, and which agent changes you rejected
  • Jump between changes with a floating navigator that marks where you are
  • Matches your editor’s theme, font, line numbers, and gutter diff markers
  • Read-only: browsing history never touches your file in the editor or on disk
Why it matters: you can trace and understand past changes freely, with no risk to your current work.

Agent Review: stay in control of what the agent writes

Agent Review brings AI agent changes into the same review workflow as your own.

  • Detects and tracks code changes made by AI coding agents automatically
  • Picks up edits from the GitHub Copilot for Eclipse plugin with no extra setup
  • Walk through agent changes inline and accept or discard each one
  • Reviewing never modifies your code; your file changes only when you accept, discard, or revert
Why it matters: let the agent move fast while you keep a clear, change-by-change record that you control.

What guided the design

  • Safe: viewing changes never modifies your code
  • Consistent: every review surface renders changes the same way
  • Native: works in every language Eclipse can color and matches your theme, font, and gutter
  • Early: review in your workspace, before changes reach Git
