When I install MyEclipse on my Windows box and run Eclipse I get a Windows “STOP” errror – I get the blue screen with “BAD_POOL_HEADER” in the first line and a long succession of text that I can’t read because Windows begins to reboot almost immediately. This problem occurs every time, almost immediately after starting up Eclipse.

I have tested a lot of configurations and confirmed that MyEclipse is the problem. When I install just Eclipse, no problem. When I have Eclipse and Subclipse installed, no problem. When I have Eclipse and Subclipse and MyEclipse installed, the problem occurs. (I haven’t tested Eclipse and MyEclipse without Subclipse.) This error has never occurred for me at all, besides when Eclipse is running. I have reinstalled everything multiple times, it makes no difference.

    I am using:

    – Microsoft Windows XP
    Professional
    Version 2002
    Service Pack 2
    – Eclipse SDK 3.1.2
    – Subclipse 1.0.3
    – EnterpriseWorkbenchInstaller_4.1.1GA_E3.1.exe

    Any ideas?

    Thanks, John

    John,

I’ve gotten those a time or two on my laptop when I was just reading mail. It’s caused by a memory pool “going bad” due to a low-level overwrite. As a result, I did some reasearch and found that there are any number of issues that can aggravate the condition. Most have to do with device drivers and other low-level infrastructure that can get used any time. In fact, I went as far as to burn a memory test CD with a utility from Microsoft and run it overnight to see if I had a bad RAM stick. That checked out OK. To date, I haven’t found my specific cause, but here are the links I found:
