    Hi,
i have an Web software JSP/JSF running and everything is fine for Tomcat 5.5.16
It even runs on the Z/OS version of Tomcat but now i have to deploy the software to an non local Aix box with Websphere 5.1. My problem is thet i was using the deployment tool and prepared an local export directory. I need to build an WAR or EAR but the tool os not preparing the special deployment descriptors which are needed by Websphere 5.1

So what can i do who has experience i even dont mind to create an ant script but where du i get the needed EAR info for my war inside ?

    pls help

    Thomas,
If you are simply trying to create an EAR, what you need to do is create a new Enterprise APplication Project, add your existing Web Project to it as a module, and then deploy your EAR file to your AIX machine.

    Hi,
sorry for the late answer we are in an critical migration phase of several millions of host db2 records to unix and oracle ,… ;)-

So this is exactely what i tried and this doesnt work. I found on the ibm web page an example and when in interpret the ant script right two more ibm properitary xml files are to be set properly to get this to work. And all doc i find is for webpshere 6 no word how to do that and i hoped that your tool are taking care of this settings
so please let me know how you tested your system i yust want to deploy no local testing no nothing the idea is work local on tomcat test it ready and then do an war or ear and deploy it for integration test on the Websphere system
    thx tk

The difference between WebSphere 5.1 and 6 are minimal. After deploynig your EAR you have to login to the web administration interface and “install” your EAR in WebSphere, then it will run.
