So I have read some Mac users having a similar issues but no Win32 posts seem to exist.

Install went fine; I chose custom locations as I always do for MyEclipse installs. The IDE started up fine the first time and I began to update with plugins. Subclipse was first, which went ok until I restarted the IDE, at which point I received the error:

“The MyEclipse executable launcher was unable to locate its companion shared library.”

Upon investigation I found that the myeclipse.ini file was zero bytes and /configuration/config.ini had completely different paths than what I had chosen for install.

    Install dirs:
    c:/MyEclipse7.0
    c:/MyEclipse7.0/Common

Performed an uninstall and reinstall. Paths still different in config.ini. Content is installed to Program Files\Genuitec even though I chose elsewhere.

After reinstall, I restarted the IDE and all went well. After adding the subclipse site and installing the plugin, both myeclipse.ini file was cleared out and config.ini was modified. Then, of course, no restart possible. Reverting to the backups I made allowed the IDE to start normally.

Can you right click on the MyEclipse profile in the pulse explorer and select “Reinsall and then Run.” after setting up the plugin. Does that fix the problem?

Reinstall does solve the problem but it is simpler to revert the two files after the plugin is installed. Point being, the IDE works fine with an accurate myeclipse.ini. The problem is that the ini file gets nuked/changed when I do the the Subclipse install.

Also of note is that myeclipse.ini will have its content erased whether I choose “Apply Changes” or “Restart” at the end of the update.

I’ll let the dev team know about this and ask them to investigate this issue. Thank you for reporting this issue.

    Nuwan,
Can you go to MyEclipse > Installation Summary > Installation Details and paste the information here for me.

Did you setup MyEclipse using the All in One installer ?

I also encountered the same problem, and MyEclipse cannot be launched so that installation details are not able to paste here.

    I download All in One.

    hubert_wanglihui,
Can you please make sure that the size of the installer you downloaded matches the size mentioned on the download page. Also make sure that md5 sum of the installer you downloaded matched the md5 sum mentioned on the download page.

I have checked md5 sum which is correct. The installation path are C:/Myeclipse 7.0 and C:/MyEclipse 7.0/common instead of the default path. This case is same with the one posted by Scotlynhatt.

This is what I would like you to try:-

    1. Run the MyEclipse uninstaller.
    2. Make sure the MyEclipse Install Directory has been completely removed
2.1. Pulse Install Directory, on XP it’s under C:\Program Files in \Pulse or \Genuitec, and on Vista it’s under <USER.HOME>\AppData\Local and then under \Pulse or \Genuitec again
    3. Then make sure the pulse2.locator file under <USER.HOME> is erased as well

After this, please reintall MyEclipse using the All in one installer.

Let me know if the problem persists.

We are having what appears to be an identical problem. We are on 7x that we installed via the two step install (3.4 install then archive file). I then install subclipse and after restarting the workspace I see that I have a completely new config.ini. Let me know if you need my configuration information.

    Devan,
There were some compatibility issues between 3rd party plugins and MyEclipse 7.0 that have now been resolved. We had released a patch to fix this issue and I would suggest you grab the latest all in one installer from the MyEclipse download page and use that to setup MyEclipse 7.0.1.

Let me know if the problem persists.

“The Myeclipse executable launcher was unable to locate its companion shared library” – I have tried several times, specifying c:\myeclipse and c:|myeclipse\common. That’s all I have done. I even tried a fresh download – no change. The myeclipse.ini has 0 bytes.
