I am trying to install Eclipse PDT (PHP) into MyEclipse 6.6 with Elcipse 3.3.3 using the update site (http://download.eclipse.org/tools/pdt/updates/site.xml) and it complains about ” PDT Feature (1.0.5.v20081126-1856) requires feature “org.eclipse.wst (3.0.0)”, or compatible.” I try to install WST (web tools) but it is not finding it and i cant remove it from my “sites to search”. HELP…THANK YOU!

    sabraha5,

Can you give some more information to investigate the issue:

    1) Do you have any plug-ins installed other than PDT?
    2) How did you try to install WST (Web Tools)? If you tried using url, give me the url details?
    3)

” I try to install WST (web tools) but it is not finding it and i cant remove it from my “sites to search”

Do you mean to remove it from the Installable software list?

    Hi Joy,

I do have other plugins installed (such as Spring, Amazon, Google, etc.). I tried to install through he update manager from the WTP project from “http://download.eclipse.org/webtools/updates” but I am getting errors…

    Sunish Abraham,

I have verified the plug-in url given by you. In the site they mentioned that it is for Eclipse Galileo. You were using ME 6.6 which uses the base Eclipse Europa. So, the url tries to install in the wrong version of Eclipse and giving the error. Please try a suitable plug-in for ME 6.6 or Eclipse Europa. Please let me know.

which plug-in (PDT or WTP)? I verified for PDT (see below) . how can i remove the WTP from my list features?

    Eclipse 3.3 / Europa / PDT 1.0.3
Install a JDK or JRE — minimum required level is 5.0.
    Get Eclipse:
If one exists for your platform (operating system, windowing system, architecture), the simplest way to install PDT is via an All-In-One bundle.
If installing on Linux, you can look for a package from your distro maintainter/repositories, but this is not supported by eclipse.org. If you encounter problems with such a bundle, please contact your distro maintainer.
Otherwise, download an Eclipse SDK or Runtime Binary or the Europa JEE Bundle, then unpack it.
    Start up Eclipse.
    Start Update Manager.
    Help > Software Updates > Find and Install… >
(*) Search for new features > Next >
    [x] Europa Discovery Site >
New Remote Site > add the new site: http://download.eclipse.org/tools/pdt/updates/ >
    Finish

Expand the Europa Discovery site to resolve dependencies. Collapsed sites will not be searched.
Select the PDT feature(s) you want to install.
Click the Select Required button to resolve missing dependencies.
    Install*. Restart. Enjoy.

Yes it is WTP. Please refer http://download.eclipse.org/webtools/updates/
To remove WTP from your features list do the following –
    1. Open pulse explorer manually, look for ~\Genuitec\Pulse Explorer\pulse-explorer.exe in case you don’t find it, download the same from http://www.poweredbypulse.com
    2. This will open pulse-explorer, from the explorer page, select “Eclipse 3.3 – Europa”
    3. Expand “My Profiles” and click on “MyEclipse 6.6”, notice the right hand pane lists base, shared and personal software
    4. Personal software lists all your 3rd party plugins and features
    5. Verify this list. If you need to remove a feature/plugin, right click on the same and from context menu click on [remove]
    6. Next right-click on “MyEclipse 6.6” from context menu click on [Re-install and run]

This should fix it. Let me know how this works for you.

    sabraha5,

Do you have option “Manage in Pulse Explorer…” under Help–>Software Updates in your ME IDE? If so, select that option to manage using Pulse Explorer. Please let me know.
