DougMHMemberI have tried installing the findbugs plug-in twice on 7.1, each time with the same result
Several of my project are hosed. I get an error on startup saying the JRE’s can’t be properly configured, then when I click on the “+” of my project, the “+” just goes away and it will not expand. When I check the project properties and click on Java Build path, I get a blank dialog?
Each time, I’ve had to reinstall 7.1 to get things back in order. I don’t want to screw it up again just to get some error messages
Are you aware of anyone else reporting problems with this great plugin?
Thanks,
Doug
DougMHMemberThe same thing happened when I tried to install the QJ-Pro plug-in.
I urge you to try to install Findbugs and/or QJ-Pro in 7.1 and see what kind of errors occur on restart.
rmcvayMemberFindbugs is a nice tool. Thanks for the pointer, Doug. I just installed it in 7.1.1 by expanding the plugin in the dropins folder and it seems to be working just fine. (7.1.1 Blue on Win 2K)

“dropins” folder? Is that something specific to BLUE? I was using
Help > Softwae Updates > Add/Remove Software > Add > Browse Categories > Source Code Analyzer?
I add it and it seems to add just fine, but when I reboot (as recommended), it clearly says it can update the JRE’s properly. When I try to creae a new Web Project…
File > New > Web Project
…nothiing happens.
On some of my projects, when I click on the “+” to expand the project, the “+” goes away and there’s no expansion.
I uninstall the plug-in, but the damage is done. I have to completely resinstall 7.1.1 all-in-one to alleviate the problem.
Granted, I’m not using “BLUE”
DougMHMemberI’m holding my breath. It appears the problem may have been going back to my old workspace upon booting up into the new MyEclipse 7.1 workspace. I performed the following this time:
1) Reinstall MyEclipse 7.1.1
2) Boot into Workspaces/MyEclipse 7.1
3) Import required old projects from old workspace and get them working
4) Install Findbugs
5) Install QJ-Pro… and all seems to be well at the moment.
support-joyMemberdouglasmhurst,
Good to hear you have everything figured out.
Ray,
Thanks for the help. You are a good sport 🙂
rmcvayMemberDoug, the “dropins” folder is the way Eclipse installs new plugins now. It replaces the old “unzip into the plugins dir” method. There are some good explanations of it on the Eclipse.org web site.
