I installed JDK1.4.2, and downloaded and unzipped Elipse 3.0 M7. But when I try to open Eclipse by running eclipse.exe, I got an error message box which says:

    JVM terminated. Exit code=1
    C:\\WINNT\\system32\\javaw.exe
    -cp C:\\Lily\\Eclipse-SDK-3.0M7\\eclipse\\startup.jar org.eclispe.core.launcher.Main
    -os win32
    -ws win32
    -arch x86
    -showsplash C:\\Lily\\Eclipse-SDK-3.0M7\\eclipse\\eclipse.exeshowsplash
    600

And after I successfully installed MyEclipse 3.7 GA, when I tried to execute MyEclipse, I got the same error message.

How can I fix this? (I have added J2EE 1.4 SDK to the “path” system variable)
    Thanks a lot!

    yax3,

The problem is that Eclipse is picking up a really old version of Java from your win32 directory. Note:

    C:\\WINNT\\system32\\javaw.exe

You either need to place your current JDK install ahead of winnt in the classpath, or use the -vm launch option on eclipse.exe to point it to your JDK 1.4.2 installation. I’d also suggest you uninstall MyEclipse until you get Eclipse working, then shutdown and reinstall MyEclipse.
