    Hi,

I want to send my app to a friend for testing (Iphone).

Is there a procedure for doing this?

    You have a few choices:

    1) use the MobiOne email notification facility when you build your app to send you and your associate a URL to install the app. This assume that if you build an ios app that your associate has an ios device and that that device’s UDID is included in the provision profile you used when building the app. For an android app your associate can install the app directly from the email link if he has enabled the device to install apps from non-play store sources.

You should verify that all devices and os versions conform to the MobiOne compatibility requirements. See release notes for this info.

    2) you can send your associate the binary file (.ipa or .apk) and he can install from iTunes or his desktop respectively.

    Hi Wayne,

UDID, Binary?….Erm…new to this part as you can tell

Unless its on Itunes no iphone can use it right?

    Whats UDID?

Only wanted to test it with friends?

What if I don’t want it being distributed via either store and just send a ink to friends? Can I not do that?

Is there a simple README please Wyne?

    Hi Wayne,

Is there anyway I can send the app to friends for testing? I don’t want to go to itunes etc, just test the app to see if it works on both phones. A simple ‘step by step’ would be more help other than complicated examples I.E UDID

    Hi Richard,

You can build ios and android app version of your project and share via email link to the hosted version of the app from App Center. Start by reviewing the app build tutorial: http://www.genuitec.com/mobile/docs/buildiosapp/buildiosapp.html

Richard, you won’t be able to do any of this without the appropriate licences, $99 for apple and $25 for Android, I suggest you send your friend the web app download URL you were sent by M1. BTW the UDID is nothing more than an iPhone handset ID number, not complicated at all.

    @stickleback,

Obliged for the feedback; I tried this as suggested; buddy got link from M1 but it failed.

Apparently it would not install – he’s got a HTC Desire C

I’m reluctant to go and buy store licence until I know it works right; especially if it does not work on another similar android. Works fine on mine as I have similar phone?

Did he adjust the security settings on his phone to allow installation of apps from unknown sources?

I’m thinking that in order to test apps on Iphone etc I need a mac; reading the docs on Itunes developer it refers to this?

    Unless I have this wrong?

The only thing you need a mac for is to upload your native apple apps to iTunes Connect for inclusion in the App Store. Are you building a native android app in M1 or just a web app?

You cant do much at all with native apple apps without the certificates, private key, app id’s and provisioning profiles, you can’t get those without a developer licence. Stick to Android.

    My brain is hurting now,

I made an app for both IOS and android; I thought I could then distribute it myself sing M1 and not have to dance through iTunes etc to get it to iphone users.

Now according to the docs on M1 it says :

Apps created by App Center Builder can be installed wireless directly to your connected devices.

    Ok,

No need to use iTunes or hassle with memory cards to install your custom apps.

    Ok,

Email notifications sent from the App Center Builder serve to inform you and your approved associates that a new version of your app has been created and is available for installation.

Did this, and yes, on my phone works perfectly well. However, not worked on other users phones; told them to make sure that they have the settings to accept unknown app sources.

The email message includes a URL to the MobiOne App Installer program. Click the URL link to download and launch the installer program.

As I said earlier, works fine on my HTC but not others? They get an error message?

On iOS (apple) devices, the installation process is a seamless 1-click experience. The installer downloads your iOS app’s .ipa file, and then automatically launches the iOS device installation process.

Now here’s my problem this does not work for me thus far; tried it last night, no good.

If I understand this right; get the .ipa file for ios and sent it to iphone user right? Where does one find such a file? Is it DL’d to your pc when the build completes?

Questions, questions, questions…once I have it, I’ll have it

Obliged for your time in helping a M1 newbee 😉

If I stick to android what of those with Iphones, apple products?

Unless I have completley misunderstood here?

I’m trying to build one that can be used on both devices i.e native and not web

As I understand it, M1 combines the two right?

Again, thanks for your time in clearing the fog 😉

No, it is a different build for each, with different certificates. You really need to read this a few times.
