thomasdevosMemberAll,
I’m trying to install MyEclipse 3.8 Beta for Linux on Fedora Core 2. I’m using Eclipse 3 RC2.
I’m using JDK 1.4.1_01 and when running the install file from a terminal I’m seeing the message from below:Any out there with similar problems?
./EnterpriseWorkbenchInstaller_030800Beta1.bin
Preparing to install…
tail: `-1′ option is obsolete; use `-n 1′
Try `tail –help’ for more information.

Riyad KallaMemberTomas, what is likely happening is that the installer is trying to run itself with an incorrect JRE, this also includes the possibility that it tries to run itself with GCJ’s interpreter which won’t work. The easiest workaround is to download the Manual Install we provide on the site and follow the very detailed instructions included with it. If you absolutely want to use the installer, try setting the LAX_VM environment variable to point at a JRE you know works on your machine, and point it directly at the java executable, something like this:
$ export LAX_VM=/opt/sun-jdk1.4.2_04/bin/java $ ./EnterpriseWorkbenchInstaller_030800Beta1.binAlso setting LAX_DEBUG to 1 will show you a debug message to give you more details about what is going on. I would honestly suggest just getting the manual install, its a 2-step process and easy to follow. The instructions have screenshots and really hold your hand if you need it.
