After ‘successfull’ (install shield message) installing MyEclipse 3.8.1 over eclipse3.0 I started eclipse and it didn’t recognise new features / plugins added. Configuration shows MyEclipse’s genuitec features but I could not find a way to make them enabled and visible on the GUI

The eclipse interface looks like no MyEclipse was installed
installation log doesn’t show any errors
please advise what could go wrong

Is there a eclipse vs MyEclipse compatibility matrix with minor releases leading to incompatibility?

Jake,
Did you try and open the MyEclipse perspective? (Window > Show Perspective > Other… > MyEclipse), did you try and create a new Web Module Project? Did you check the preferences in the Window > Preferences dialog?

Thank you for the info… please note that MyEclipse 3.8.1 and 3.8.2 are only supported against Eclipse 3.0 and so far 3.0.1 seems to work fine. Eclipse 3.1 is not slated for release until next year some time.

Window > Show Perspective > Other… > displays following perspectives:
CVS Repo
Debug
Resource(default)
Team synchonizing

We’ve tested on 3.1 integration builds from time to time and haven’t seen any problems yet. If this is all that’s in your perspective list then the
problem you’re having is that you downloaded only Eclipse Platform and not Eclipse SDK, so MyEclipse can’t find all the plugins needed
to start up. You’ll need to download and install the full Eclipse SDK, then MyEclipse, in order to get everything functioning. However,
as Riyad said, we’d recommend that you install version 3.0.1 since we test and validate the installs against it.
