Do you have a sample jsp page that shows the problem? What is the message on the progress dialog when it hangs?
The ide just hangs with a popup that reads “Opening Designer…” and “Loading design framework and creating design page” .
The sample jsp page is any old page. for example I hang on this simple page called index.jsp.I have reverted the default to be the classic editor, in order to get some work done.

At home (working setup) my IE version is 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519. I will report on the work setup(failiing setup) when I get there later today.
And the nonworking version has:
IE version is 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.040919-1003
Can you try upgrading IE to the latest version so that it matches your working config? I tried the test page on my install, with the same IE version as your working install btw, and had no issues with it at all. At this point, the only difference seems to be the older IE version on the non-working config.
