Hello,
I am extremely frustrated … today MyEclipse 8.x stable installation found the 8.5 updates .. I accepted to upgrade and it went through fine. At some point I get like 10 stacked login requests to login to a ftp mirror service that I have no clue about! something like http://ftp.mirrorservices.org or so … I cant login but the Modal login Dialog keeps popping up so I have no choice but to kill MyEclipse process altogether! I try then to re-run the update but some new error appears “the update … is already installed and cant not be downloaded”. At this point I have no update mechanism anymore … I can not close the Update Software dialog (Modal again!!!!) and get back to MyEclipse normally so I have to force quit it!
I finally figured to use directly the Pulse IDE console … it says “Apply pending 1 update” but then it hangs forever and I end up having to Force Quit it too!!!
I think the idea of these automatic updates and personalized profiles is great … it is just that it is so buggy that I always end up having to reinstall everything manually each time! because never works as promised.
Now downloading 8.5 to install manually … Lost all the plugins had installed and was happy with.

I’m extremely sorry you ran into this issue. The problem lies with the the mirrorservice.org mirror which has been blacklisted by us for some time. Unfortunately MyEclipse 8.0 included an older version of Pulse which did not have the blacklisting rule set. Simply leaving the dialog open (ignore it) will not cause more to pop up while other downloads should continue from other mirrors, towards the end of the process, you can cancel this dialog.
Due to the load on our servers due to the fresh 8.5 release, some update operations may take longer than usual, though you should never have had to force quit the application.

I can understand your frustration with the update process and regret the inconvenience caused. 8.5 includes Pulse 3.0, a significant change from Pulse 2.5 which should prevent issues like this from recurring in the future.
