How can I install Myeclipse to be used by multiple users. I have 2 account on my Linux box One for KDE and the other for Gnome I go back and forth between this users to do testing and make changes. I don’t misuse the license, i just need this wortk around to address my imidate need.
right now I installed it as root and when I started as regular user it prompts me with the root workspace and does not allow me to change it.

    mesfin,

Because of the two user accounts, unless you want to get really fancy with permissions, the easiest thing would be to install MyEclipse to /opt/myeclipse (or wherever you want) as root, then when you run it, sudo from your user accounts to run it and select the workspace. That will keep the experience normalized.

Otherwise if that’s a no-go, the next easiest thing is to install it twice, once under each account so the perms match.

If you are more of a guru with Linux, you can try and do things like group membership and setting that for the install and the workspace, but nothing like that is tested on our end and might be way more work than it’s actually worth.

Disk space is cheaper than time. I second Riyad’s suggestion just to install it twice, once as each user.

Resurrecting this old topic, but for a different architecture — I’m setting up a multi-user Mac OS X machine (running Snow Leopard), and find that I can only run MyEclipse from the account that installs it. I’d swear I fixed this once before on a different machine, but heck if I can remember how. Is this supported? And documented somewhere?

Something analogous to what Riyad suggested should work for any Unixish OS.
