MyEclipse will not let me run multiple instances of eclipse – each with their own workspace – on the same machine. It even gives me a message with a list of ip addresses – which are the same ip address.
Actually, the license is a per instance subscription. You can run on any machine as long as it’s you using your license and you’re not running two licenses simultaneously. This is by design otherwise an “enterprising” user would be able to set up a large server and have an entire team run MyEclipse remotely on it using a single license.
However, if you’re migrating to another machine or something or have a big problem with this restriction, you can always make a case to the subscriptions folks at subscriptions@genuitec.com.
I also find this restriction quite frustrating. I use multiple workspaces to keep the different projects I work on separated. I used to keep all the projects in one workspace, but I rely on Ant for building most of my projects, and I found it difficult to keep track of the build scripts for all the different projects in Eclipse.
As far as this being a “per instance subscription,” I see nothing in the license that permits that restriction.

From my reading of the license it indicates that it allows “one End User” which is all that I’m asking for (I don’t even have a split personality 😉 )
I can understand the concern over people exploiting their license, but this is causing me a lot of frustration. I don’t mind switching my workspaces when I switch which project I’m working on, but sometimes I just want to open another up briefly to check on something and get a bunch of messages about the license.

I should mention that part of my problem is that this actually makes even just Eclipse itself difficult to use, since I can’t even right-click on the project to change its properties, or click refresh, etc. since every time I do I get the message about the license being in use multiple times.
So, there actually is a bug here, since MyEclipse doesn’t even just turn itself off like it indicates that it will, but ends up popping up the message and blocks the user from doing other things not directly related to using MyEclipse.
