    Hi,

We are using MyEclipse 7.1, when i try to install my plugin in MyEclipse 7.1 its automatically getting updated to MyEclipse 7.5, is there a way i can stop MyEclipse 7.5 update?

I had the same problem when i was using MyEclipse 7.0 which by itself got updated to MyEclipse 7.1 when i installed my plugin then MyEclipse team was asking me to use dropin feature but my plugin has dependency so we upgraded to MyEclipse 7.1.

    So my Question is:

Is there a way i can stop MyEclipse 7.5 update without dropin option if so please let me know how to do that.

    Thanks.

This will be fixed by us in Pulse 2.5 with MyEclipse 8.0. For now using the /dropins folder is still the only workaround. Sorry about that.

    gerardvijay,

Sorry about the forced-update, it’s an unfortunate bug from p2 we inherited and are fixing in MyEclipse 8.0 — the timeline for MyEclipse 8.0 is a Milestone 1 release in Q3 and a GA release in Q4 of this year.

    hi,

I am using MyEclipse7.5, and observed a minor issue with the plug-in installation.

Through ‘add/remove software’ from MyEclipse Help menu I added the plug-ins to the ‘public sites’
If I am trying to select the category()(the check box for the category) I am not able to select , instead if I select all the Child under that category I am able to select the all the children and finally if all the children get selected, then the category check box will be checked.

I am attaching the screen shot, here if you see the “Uncategorized” category, it contains almost all 66 child and I have to select each child one-by-one.

Is this a problem in MyEclipse or an intended behavior.

    Thanks,
    -gerard

    Gerard, Srinivas,

I am afraid, this is true for ME 7.5. You need to select the child elements to select the plug-in. I would recommend you to install ME 8.5, Help > Software Updates section has been replaced with Help > MyEclipse Configuration Center. This is more user friendly than the 7.5 Help > Software Updates.

    Gerard,

You are trying to add a third party plugin, hence it shows up under the uncategorized category. You should still be able to add the plugin to your ME profile, considering that it is compatible to the base eclipse.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi,
I have something to tell here and need more information.

as I mention above, all those 66 features are part of another feature let say a.b.100 (nested feature concept. Included in a.b.100’s feature.xml using <include> tag ) and a.b.100 feature is listed in site.xml under a category named, let say “my category”, whereas the 66 features are not listed.

When these set of plug-ins are installed in MyEclipse5.0 these plug-ins never showed under either “my category” or “uncategorized” categories.
Whereas, with the ME7.5 these plug-ins are now showed under “uncategorized” category.

FYI the same plug-ins, features, and site.xml used here for both the versions of MyEclipse.
    So,
What is the cause for having this kind of behavior?
Is there any differences/changes in both the MEs with respect to the nested features(the above scenario)?
Is some needs to be changed in my update site project?

    Please suggest.

    Hello Gerard,

Sorry for the late reply. ME 5.0 and ME 7.5 are based on different base eclipse. If you are referring to the same plugin being used in both the ME versions, the first thing that you need to verify is if this plugin is compatible to the base eclipse. ME 5.0 is one of the very early releases, the way plugins are added differs in various versions. Can you please give me more information –
    1. What is the plugin you are referring above?
    2. Can you share a weblink of the same?
    3. How did you add the plugin to ME profile?

This will help me get a better understanding of the issue you are facing.

hi can anybody pls. reply on this.
it’s very urgent, we are in a release cycle testing.

    also some more information.

As I mentioned above, we also observed that, we can able to install the plug-ins even if you don’t select all the 66 sub features(manually) under the “Uncategorized” category but just selecting only the parent( “Uncategorized” checkbox).
