When developing RCP plug-in projects using MyEclipse, the IDE seems to loose the Extension Point Schema. So when you try to create a new view under the org.eclipse.ui.views extension point the only two options are Generic and Extension. What is going on?

This seems to only happen on the Windows platform.

Hmmm any time I see wonky behavior like this my first thought is “restart using -clean command line argument”

Could you try that out and see if it helps?

Alas, that did not solve the problem. Is myeclipse reading the schema file locally or from some internet site. In other words could this be a proxy related issue?

It’s possible, this functionality is provided by the base PDE, not MyEclipse, so I’m not sure. You can go to Window > Prefs > General > Network Connections to make sure it’s configured properly.

I have explicitly set the proxy server, and tested the setting by performing an update, and am still seeing the issue.

Talking with another user here they too have had this issue, and are have been forced to revert back to a standard version of Eclipse, rather than use MyEclipse.

gfhill, and reverting back to Eclipse fixed the issue? Hmmm…. I’ll file an issue in our issue tracker to get our devs to look into this.

Has you development team been able to come up with a solution to this issue yet?

No, management didn’t set aside any investigation time for this, I believe the earliest we will be able to look at this will be the 7.0 release for June/July timeframe.
