vladchukMemberAlas! This is as broken in Eclipse 3.4.2 and MyEcilpse 7.1 as it was in other combinations…
What on Earth is going on?!March 17, 2009 at 11:22 pm #296250
support-joyMembervladchuk,
MyEclipse 7.1 is locked to Eclipse 3.4.1. We are currently working on getting it updated to Eclipse 3.4.2. Please bear with us, while we try to iron out the creases. Temporarily, can you use Eclipse 3.4.1 and upgrade to MyEclipse 7.1 and recheck? Thank you for your patience.

vladchukMemberI’m not sure about the meaning of this locking, but, out of desperation, I wasted another hour on setting up Eclipse 3.4.1 with MyEcilpse 7.1 to test out another theory. Sadly, the results are the same. So… back to Eclipse 3.3 and MyEclipse 6.5 I go…

support-joyMembervladchuk,
Can you explain what errors you are encountering when you are trying to update to MyEclipse 7.1 using Eclipse 3.4.1? It will help me identify the root cause and suggest a proper fix for you? Please be *super” expressive, give me details of what you are doing, what is your system configuration, etc

vladchukMemberI have no problem updating. But when I updated the same “Slow navigation in tree views” ensued – which has been the topic of this thread ever since MyEclipse 7.0 came out.

support-joyMemberAh, slow navigation in tree views has been reported and our dev teams are working on the fix in our next releases. One of the problem with the installer was that it was trying to go online to get few bits and pieces. At best, I can advice you after downloading the installer, take your computer offline, meaning disabling internet access and then try the install. That way, it could speed up the install.
March 20, 2009 at 11:28 am #296431Just wanted to report that I am experiencing this same issue with the tree navigation. Is there anything that can be done to mitigate this?

support-joyMemberHi DaveTheWaveUSMC,
Sorry to hear you ran into this issue. What is the MyEclipse version you are using? This problem should be fixed in 7.1. Can you copy and paste your installation detail here, you need to go to MyEclipse > Installation Summary > Installation Detail.

Here ya go…
The app I maintain is stuck on Java 1.5. We use webstart for it so if I need to move my JRE to 6 let me know… I’d rather not if I do not need to…

The tree navigation works as expected until I build a project. After my first build, all actions associated with the tree are extremely slow. All projects are EJB projects. I have no web projects loaded. I do have a few plain vanilla java projects.

support-joyMemberDaveTheWaveUSMC,
Thank you for the installation details. I need to know few more things to replicate this –
1. How many EJB projects do you have in your workspace? What is their file size?
2. How many plain vanilla java projects are present in your workspace?
3. When you are experiencing slow navigation in tree view, how many fies are open?
4. Can you check if there is any process running which slows the performance?
Any other detail that you can provide to replicate this issue at my end will definitely help me. Thank you for your help.May 26, 2009 at 10:32 am #298726
Riyad KallaMemberUpdate: For anyone interesting MyEclipse 7.5M1 includes a fix for most of the poor performance problems folks were seeing like really slow typing, really slow context menu firing, package-selection, etc.
