I am having this exact issue – placing the log4j.configuration file in the common/classes directory has no effect and log4j defaults to the generic WARN+ERROR to CONSOLE. Where should the log4j.configuration file go so that when Tomcat 5.5 is started by MyEclipse that it will read it? Has any progress been made on fixing this or at least ID’ing where the file should go to make it work?

I have the same problem with
    Version: 5.5.0 Milestone 2
    Build id: 20070409-5.5.0-Milestone2
    on WinXp
    with Tomcat 5.5

    FYI,

Hey guys, if you go to your Tomcat 5 connector settings, then under the Paths sub-preference, can you click the “Add Dir” to the ‘append to classpath’ box, and add the dir with the properties file in it and see if that fixes the issue? (I wonder if Tomcat just cannot find it when run from MyEclipse)

Any updates on the status of this? Is there a defect assigned? It would be really nice to have logging working properly and as expected within the MyEclipse console.

    gcrispmyec,
I’m curious if appending the properties file to the classpath fixes the issue for folks.

I tried the solutions for that in the above postings, to no apparent effect.
