I’ve been having difficulty getting the JSP editor to operate. I started from scratch and still get the Unable to Create Part Message.
I’ve done a fresh install of eclipse 3.0 (GTK), MyEclipse 3.8.2 on SuSE Linux 9.1 for intel. I create a new Web Project, then create a new jsp in that project using the standard JSP Template 1. I get the unable to create part message when MyEclipse tries to create the editor. The JSP page is created successfully. Any Ideas. I’ve read through all of the previous threads on the Unable to create part messages and tried many of the suggestions provided. None of them seemed to resolve my issue.
With the current exception, MyEclipse works exceptionally well.I have done the exact same install and test on a Windows XP box and everything works well.

Is current configuration=trueI removed all plugins not installed with the base install and got the same results. Worked with the working windows version. I was able to reproduce the problem under windows if I have the JSP editor open and aborted eclipse without allowing is to close the workspace. Now that I have the problem reproduced I cannot get it to go away even with a clean install. Does the editor create a temp file or something.

There is different : I use eclipse 3.0.1, gef 3.0.1, emf 2.0.1, ve 1.0 and gtk 2.4.10 (from gnome 2.8 cvs)

If your workspace gets corrupt (killing Eclipse) it can give you a nightmare of problems… on Linux this seems to be fatal (happened to me and another user twice) and on Windows it seems to manifest itself by “unable to create part” and other annoying behavior.
I have all projects in cvs and when I upgrade eclipse,myeclipse etc I create new workspace
and only checkout projects from eclipse – it is simple
I think that problem is eclipse linking – linux have link in file system, but eclipse use special linking
and it don’t work good
I have never problem with linux filesystems and it is problem with eclipse, probably
