While I am trying to update my MyEclipse installation I receive the following error message:

I am not running into any particular issue during operation. However every time I start my IDE recently the same set of 3 updates appear on my quick install dialogue box and every time I try to upload the updates I get errors. Here are error messages again:

I also tried to start IDE with eclipse.exe -clean

I received the update MyEclipse Enterprise Workbench (6.0.0.zmyeclipse60020070820). But when I tried to install I received the error:

Paul,
If you go to Help > Software Updates > Manage Configuration, you should see a list of plugins and extensions installed. Given the errors you are seeing during the update process, some of these plugins should be marked with red “X” indicating there is an installation problem. You can right-click on these plugins and go to Show Details to see what the problem is.

My “Manage Configuration” screen displays an empty tree on the right under the Eclipse SDK root. I would be happy to send a screen shot

Therefore I uninstalled MyEclipse and Eclipse and reinstalled them again. I went through a lenghty Eclipse update and MyEclipse update sequence. This whole process lasted almost a whole working day. I pasted the installation history below. Finally I came to the same point again. When I launch MyEclipse the quick update displays the dialogue box that shows I have the following updates:

MyEclipse HotFix-600.1: SecurityException with Signed Libraries (6.0.0.zmyeclipse60020070824)
Matisse4MyEclipse Swing UI Designer (6.0.0.zmyeclipse60020070820)
MyEclipse Enterprise Workbench (6.0.0.zmyeclipse60020070820)

and when I try to install them I receive the same errors as above.

Can this be a memory issue? I have only 512 K memory.

Therefore I uninstalled MyEclipse and Eclipse and reinstalled them again. I went through a lenghty Eclipse update and MyEclipse update sequence. This whole process lasted almost a whole working day.

What was installed? MyEclipse hasn’t released an update yet, and if you are referring to Eclipse 3.3.1, we don’t support it yet until our 6.0.1 release is out. *that* could be what is causing the problem, the incompatability with the 3.3.1 install if you are doing that update each time.

Can this be a memory issue? I have only 512 K memory.

I don’t know if *this* problem is caused by that limit of 512mb of ram, but yes, you will have trouble using MyEclipse on a machine that only has 512mb of ram, which means after the operating system and other apps are done using ram may leave you only with 300-ish ram or so.

Yes our MyEclipse 6.0 release supports Eclipse 3.3.0 (and our upcoming 6.0.1 release supports 3.3.1)

You know, as strange as this is… I’m looking back at your exceptions about certain platform plugins missing (compatability and runtime) and I’m wondering… when you installed MyEclipse did you use an existing Eclipse 3.3 install? If you did,and it wasn’t the “Classic” (SDK) install, *that* might explain why it’s not able to update itself.

The best thing to do here would be to reinstall MyEclipse to a brand new directory using the all-in-one installer… that includes JRE/Eclipse/MyEclipse all pre-configured.

And that would rule out the strange configuration issues.

I installed the latest MyEclipse Enterprise Workbench 6.0.1-GA-200710 using the All-in-One installer about two weeks ago and after installing a number of updates, features and plugins, Eclipse was acting very strange (features stopped working, updates said my configuration contained errors, and the PDE Error Log view showed ever increasing errors). Sadly, this is nothing new, so I went thru your suggested procedure of trying “-clean” (no effect), new workspace (worked for 1 day, then crashed every time I started up Eclipse), and now I am at the final recourse: reinstall MyEclipse.

I ran the uninstaller, and renamed the “c:\program files\my eclipse 6.0” folder to “junk” because it contained some left over files. I re-installed MyEclipse, started it up and created a brand new workspace. I have not installed any additional updates, features or plugins at this point, so I figured this “has to work”, right? I clicked on Help -> Software Updates -> Manage Configuration. Just as before I uninstalled, the “MyEclipse Enterprise Workbench” tree view on the left hand side has no child nodes. If I click on “Scan for Updates”, I still get “The current configuration contains errors…” error message. I hit OK, and I get “/ by zero”.

Strangely, if I click on Help -> Software Updates -> Find and Install -> Search for updates, it does NOT give me “The current configuration contains errors…” as you would expect. So which one is right?

So let’s assume the error message “Manage Configuration” gave me was bogus. If I click on Help -> Software Updates -> Find and Install -> New Remote Site … -> Finish, it gives me a red X when I click on any checkbox in the “features to install” field. When I click on Error Details, I get:
