Every time I try to export a WAR for my project, I get this message:

“The selected wizard could not be started. Reason: org/eclipse/wst/common/frameworks/datamodel/IDataModelProvider”

I’m using jdk 1.5_04; Eclipse 3.1, and MyEclipse 4M3. I just exported a WAR successfully last week, but after upgrading to 4M3 I no longer can.

Please help: Monday deadline. Thanks in advance.

Brad,

You’re likely using a pre-release of Eclipse 3.1, not the final version. What is the build id of your install?
MyEclipse 4.0M3 will only run with the final build.

Another thing to try would be to restart eclipse with the -clean option on the command line: (eclipse.exe -clean) to rebuild the plugin cache.
This will resolve a large class of install problems, provided the version is correct.

The build Id is I20050627-1435. Does that sound right?

I did the -clean run, and now the first window of the war wizard does come up. I’m completely lost at that point though. It is asking for the name of a Web Module (none appear in the dropdown, though I have five web applications in the current Working Set.) When I type the name of the project in, it tells me the module name is invalid.

What’s the difference?

All along I’ve been selecting the “WAR file” option from the “Export…” menu, and hence my complaining.

Just now I see the “J2EE WAR file” option, which works like a charm.

Surely I’m revealing my ignorance here, but what the hell: what’s the difference?

Brad,
I believe you have another plugin (Nitro, WTP, Lomboz, etc.) that is providing the “WAR” export option, MyEclipse does not provide this, we provide the “J2EE WAR File” option.
