Scott AndersonParticipantWe understand. We learned that lesson the “hard way” with 3.8. 😉

europarlMemberNow? You mean yesterday.
Generating web-services.xml, xxx.wsdl, jxrpc-mapping would be really great – maybe this will come from upgrades in XDoclet?
One thing: if anyone is looking for Java client code generation from a WSDL: http://www.myspotter.com/wsdl2java.shtml

Mark TownsendMemberWell, I would like to bring up Web Services here. It’s been widely discussed in this thread for the past 2 years or so.
I am trying to convince my manager to start using MyEclipseIDE to replace using WebSphere Studio 5.1.x. But, if it doesn’t have Web Services support, then we may have to look elseware or continue using WebSphere Studio.

Riyad KallaMemberWebservices are comming, I promise. Our plan is 5.0 at this point: http://www.myeclipseide.com/ContentExpress-display-ceid-6.html

DavidMemberHi,
Instead of the perenial “when” question about web service integration, I would like to ask “what”? The point is, today you can use XDoclet support in MyEclipse, either webdoclet + wseedoclet, or ejbdoclet + wseedoclet, to create, respectively, a JAXRPC servlet endpoint or an EJB SLSB session endpoint, although you will be limited to builtin types, without the soapenc extensions (like arrays, for instance). If you are willing to hack the .xdt templates, you can even fix those limitations.
I suppose it would be nice to have a wizard which would generate files with the annotations already in place for me, (and for the autocompletion to quit insisting I’m not allowed to have web.* annotations on a POJO), but that is just cosmetic.
What about messages with attachments, declaritive security, etc.? I hate to mention it, but I’d really like something like the VS interface for Microsoft’s Web Services Enhancements (although for us, it should be standards-compliant). Since we’ve had to wait two years (and counting) for professional support for web services in the eclipse environment, it would be a bit dissapointing to me if it wasn’t much more than what I could do over a weekend with modifying .xdt templates.
Sorry, I guess my frustration with waiting for web services is showing :).

Scott AndersonParticipantIs there Web Service support for Axis in MyEclipse?
Not at the present time. We’re targeting having a release that includes it in the first quarter of 2006.

Ed ThompsonMemberIs it in, and I am just not finding it? Or is this year old disucssion thread…

Riyad KallaMemberNo Web Services is still planned for 5.0. I think Scott may have read “Axis” as “AJAX”, sorry for the confusion.
