Before upgrading to the recently released 2.1.3, I would like to ask beforehand whether there are any known compatibility issues between myeclipse 3.7 and eclipse 2.1.3.

Also, what would be the most recommended upgrade path? Upgrade eclipse first from within the ide using help->software updated and then myeclipse via the same path.

    Or,

Should I take the path of downloading eclipse manually, extracting to new directory, linking to old workspace, downloading myeclipse manually, installing myeclipse into new eclipse directory.

Of course, I would prefer the first option, as it involves much less work.

Thanks in advance for all help on this issue

    Arjan,
The 2.x series of MyEclipse is intended for the 2.1.x series of Eclipse, and the 3.x series of MyEclipse is intended for the 3.x series of Eclipse. With that said, and referencing your first sentence, yes there will be major incompatibilities between Eclipse 2.1.3 and MyEclipse 3.7 🙂

What you want is Eclipse 2.1.3 and MyEclipse 2.7 GA, in which case they work fine together. You can upgrade from the update perspective, but if you want the ‘purest’ way to do it, always reinstalling is the best way to avoid problems. I would suggest using the update manager, and if it doesn’t work, then do the upgrade manually.

    Of course I meant 2.7. I just made a typo. 🙂

Glad to hear there are no known incompatibilities, so I will go ahead and update to eclipse 2.1.3 and 2.7GA (right now using 2.1.2 and 2.7RC2)

    Thanks
