    Hey guys!

Just wanted to compare notes. My About Eclipse dialog still says that it’s version 4.0.0 after installation. Is that to be expected?

    Thanks.

    Dave,

In my 4.0.1 installation when I select Help > About Eclipse SDK the dialog shows the MyEclipse icon at the bottom. When I click it to show the feature details, all but three features show a 4.0.1 version. The three that don’t didn’t change. However, this is the “low-level” feature versioning, just like the Plugin Details button shows low-level plugin details. For the MyEclipse product version you should really look at MyEclipse > About MyEclipse or Window > Preferences > MyEclipse as both of those will show the explicit product version and build details.

Does that clear things up? Or are you showing something different? Can you be more specific if you are?

Yea it looks like when you install 4.0.1 from the InstallAnywhere kit over the 4.0.0 installation things get screwed up. Time to flush and rebuild.. 😉

Have you tried to start eclipse with “-clean” argument? That should clear the plugin cache and it should pick up the 4.0.1 changes. After you have launched once with -clean you can remove it from the shortcut.

    Dave,

That’s likely true. You really shouldn’t run the double-click installers to overwrite each other without running the uninstaller first. Sorry for the confusion, but the best way to update to 4.0.1 is simply to run the Eclipse updater. I added a NOTE to the announcement (http://myeclipseide.com/PNphpBB2+file-posting-mode-editpost-p-44270.html) to hopefully clear things up for others. Thanks for the feedback so we can prevent others from doing the same thing.

I’ve tried four times now to upgrade to 4.0.1 and each time somewhere during the verification phase my internet connection will lock up until eclipse gives me the following error:

Unable to complete action for feature “MyEclipse Enterprise Workbench” due to errors.
Unable to complete action for feature “MyEclipse Database Support” due to errors.
Unable to retrieve remote reference “http://downloads.myeclipseide.com/downloads/products/eworkbench/updates-4.0/plugins/com.genuitec.eclipse.sqlexplorer.oracle_4.0.1.jar”. [Connection timed out: connect]

Each time it appears to be a different jar that cannot be verified. The only way to get my connection back is to shut down eclipse completely. this is getting rather frustrating, as I’ve never had a problem upgrading in the past.

That’s peculiar as we haven’t seen any server or connectivity problems at all on our end. It could be something in the connection between your machine and our servers that is temporarily unreliable and downloading all the jars simply makes it obvious.

If you can’t get it to work, what I’d suggest is downloading the archived update site (one big zip) from our downloads section and then using it to update locally. However, don’t look for it yet as it’s still uploading and hasn’t been hooked to the downloads section yet. Should be available tomorrow though. Sorry for the inconvenience, but this is the first report of an issue like this that we’ve seen.
