christweekieMemberHaving battled with updating 7.0 to 7.1, I decided to do the safe thing and do a full install with the all-in-one installer.
I launch the all-in-one installer. I get prompted for my NTLM auth credentials which I enter (without asking them to be saved). I then get a login box for pulse (yuck) which I unenthusiastically complete.
I then see a dialog which tells me that it is resolving and validating the profile which has been there about 15 mins now. The progress bar started just below the “n” of validating and hasn’t moved one pixel since.
Any ideas ?
Seriously, could you guys give me an estimate when you realistically might have your game together again. Should I just do nothing until 8.0 ? Am I likely to be wasting my time for much longer with your upgrades ?

Loyal WaterMemberIm sorry you are facing this problem. You need to redownload the brand new MyEclipse 7.1.1 installers we just put on the download page a few days ago. Then make sure his CAPS LOCK key is turned on, and double-click to run the installer.
The “communications mode” setting, putting it into Maximum Compat might do the trick as we’ve seen that fix some folks uip with some NTLM’s that authenticate very slowly.

christweekieMemberHi
Where do I set “communications mode” ? Am I supposed to leave CAPS LOCK on for the whole duration of the install ? What is that for ? Surely I would turn it off when doing the NTLM authentication. I am not sure your response is giving me much more confidence in MyEclipse.
I also don’t appreciate your indication that the problem might be down to the slow NTLM authentication HERE rather than in another shoddy/untested release from Genuitec. That isn’t true here and for sites where that does happen, a quality piece of software would give some warning or advice to the user rather than leaving them staring at a stalled progress bar for half an hour.
Thanks
Chris

We should have provided more context — my appologies.
The updated 7.1.1 installers that are available from our download page have a new feature in them that is triggered by the CAPS LOCK key being on when the installer is started. Instead of Pulse attempting to make an automatic detection of your network settings and continue forward, you are given a prompt to manually specify your network information before the installer runs (that is shown in the screenshots above).
With the CAPS LOCK key in, double-click the installer to run it, it will unzip itself then initialize and start up, you’ll be given the first prompt of setting up your proxy settings, you can click “Yes” to launch the configuration screen in the screenshot above where you can set your proxy information and different communication modes.
In *most* cases, we have noticed that if you set your Communication mode to “Compatible”, the 3rd option, most NTLM-based errors will go away. That is what Nipun was trying to show you how to do.
I noticed in your other thread (http://www.myeclipseide.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=23353&highlight=) it looks like you got the install done correctly.
At this point if you are still having communication problems, what you can do is go to Window > Preferences > Pulse > Network Settings, and set that same “Compatible” mode and then restart MyEclipse. Again, your NTLM-proxy communication experience should improve. If it doesn’t, please let us know and we can continue to look into the issue.

analogbytesMemberThe CAPS LOCK key??? Seriously? This is “supposed” to be enterprise software. This 7.x release is becoming a joke.

ernestzMemberAre there any other occasions, either during the installation or normal usage, where CAPS LOCK (or any other key modifier) triggers special processing???

Riyad KallaMemberernestz,
No, just during the startup of the installer.
