    Hi

I just upgraded from 8.5 to 8.6. On my menu I ended up with Myeclispe 8.5, myEclispe 8.6 and Uninstall Myeclipse 8.5

I thought great, it kept the old version and gives me the choice to uninsatll, nice thought.

    But it uninstlled 8.6.

    Running Ubunu.

Not sure if your issue or Ubuntu.

    Hello Greg,

Can you answer couple of queries for me to understand the issue at hand –

    1. How did you upgrade from ME 8.5 to 8.6?
    2. What is the current MyEclipse version which is working for you?

On my menu I ended up with Myeclispe 8.5, myEclispe 8.6 and Uninstall Myeclipse 8.5

    3. Can you attach a screenshot to help me get a visual
    4.

    But it uninstlled 8.6.

Since ME 8.5 and 8.6 are on the same series – 8.x, you can install only one version. In case you have ME 7.5 and you would like to install 8.6, you can do that since they belong to different series.

I would recommend you to uninstall ME 8.5 and install ME 8.6

    Greg,

We are looking into this problem – the uninstall link should have been updated to say 8.6 instead of there being two around.

Do you recall how you installed 8.5? As far as the update from 8.5 to 8.6 is concerned, did you do that from within the MyEclipse Configuration Center or did you perform some other steps?

    Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Did the install from within MyEclipse Configuration Centre. I have now done a clean install of 8.6 and see the version numbers of the packages are 8.6, yet when I was loooking at them from within the Configuration Center before doing the uninstall I remember they we still 8.5. Thought: the install did not run to completion, some menu updates were done and not others. I would have thought the user could not get control back till the update finished or was given a failure message, but maybe it failed silently?

    Greg,

Thank you for sharing your notes with us. Good to hear you are all set. I have filed a PR for the dev team to investigate this issue. Your inputs will help us research this further.

    Best.
