Is it possible yet to be able to access the native phone functions like to get the contacts list, or calendar, or camera etc.. ?

If so could you please supply some examples.
If not… when will this functionality be available?

I really need some info on this too. looking at the new 2.2 highlights page http://www.genuitec.com/mobile/docs/highlights/current/ it seems that you can interface with the accelerometer (i guess using phonegap or something).

Can you post up that example as it would be a really good starting point?

I also want to plead for a central repository of recipes for doing standard things!! e.g. how to read a textbox, read RSS feed, write to the db etc etc.

My priorities are GPS, camera then push so some demos of how to hook into phonegap or another system to get some real values from the device.

Not too difficult to answer.

Officially we do not support a native api yet.

Unofficially Google up the phonegap 1.1 api docs and give it a go. NOTE we do not officially support these apis. I have used them on many occasions but there are some quirks in this OSS library and your mileage will vary. If using iOS don’t waste your time with earlier versions than iOS 4. But

How long until it will be supported?
If its going to be quite some time then I don’t think that mobione is the right choice. I should not have purchased it yet.
