Hi,
The other day I installed MyEclipse 4.0M2 to my Eclipse 3.1 installation on Mac OS X 10.4.1/JDK 1.5.0. I was pretty sure I selected an installation directory other than Eclipse, but somehow after installation MyEclipse appeared to be installed inside the Eclipse directory.
This was probably due to a mis-click on my side, but the question is, is this really bad? The installer says NOT to do this, but everything seems to function just fine.
Of course, this is not really a big thing and I can always re-install both Eclipse and MyEclipse, but I’m just just curious. Also, can I correct this mistake by simply moving the MyEclipse directory and changing the link file manually?

It’s not terrible, and the installation will function properly in this mode. We build MyEclipse to behave as a proper “product extension” to Eclipse, which allows it to be installed externally. However, this is mainly to make managing it a little easier and to allow it to be used with multiple Eclipse installations simultaneously. In the end, you’ll be fine.

Btw, I don’t think I ever saw a reference to the fact that a single MyEclipse install can be shared between multiple Eclipse installations. It’s interesting to know this, but is anyone really doing this? Surely the installer does not support such a setup.
