nikkistormMemberHi,
Can someone please help me as to how I can add a pdf (newsletter) to app, of a local file – i got it to work and then for someone reason now it will not – am pulling my hair out here – any immediate response would be greatly appreciated.
Ideally I would like it to just go to a new pop up screen and show the selected newsletter (pdf file).
IdeawebMemberWhich platform are you looking to use your app on ?
If you are building for IOS(Iphone/ipod/ipad) please try placing your .PDF inside the www folder which is generated on build or emulate..
Then use a button widget (text or image) with Popup No control to view the PDF.
I attached image for further explanation.
If you have any further questions please feel free to ask!

support-michaelKeymasterSome additional info: there is a known issue on mobione android apps where PDF docs do not render. Last week we released MobiOne 2.3 Milestone-1 preview that improves our underlying cordova/phonegap runtime platform of mobione apps to fix PDF handling on android.
IdeawebMemberHello Wayne.
As im in desperate need of implementing support for PDF viewing on android, would you recommend me to install the developer release or wait to the final update ? And when do you expect the final update to be launched ?
Customer is requesting his IOS app to cover Android market…
Thank you in advance.
nikkistormMemberHi,
Thank you so much for this – however with the pdf file in the www folder – which www folder doe sit go in – the one fo rthe particular page in this instance newsletters www or do I put it in the startup page www folder. below is a screen pic of all the files that has been createdAlso, what file name do i put
IdeawebMemberHello Nikkistorm.
You need to place your PDF file inside the .mobi startup screens www folder. This will be the “root” of your entire app, no matter how many mobi pages you have. If your pages are linked together, the startup screen .mobi file will hold all of your coding after you build the app.
Im not sure i understand your question regarding filename, but the filename will not be displayed in any way, therefore you can use whatever you like..
Feel free to ask if you have any further questions.
nikkistormMemberOk, so have the pdf in the right file, now when i click on the link in iphone to test it comes up with java script – arghhhhh
And by the file name I mean would it just be the pdf as is – n6.pdf or would it be the full location file name eg: e:/app/gp etc etc etc
I did manage to get it to work at one stage, however now I am unable to get it to work again!!!!
IdeawebMemberAnd by the file name I mean would it just be the pdf as is – n6.pdf or would it be the full location file name eg: e:/app/gp etc etc etc
If you placed the PDF in the www root, you would only need to put in n6.pdf to load it.
The test center does not support viewing the PDF file, so dont take that as an error.
You need to view the App project on the device itself to verify that it works.
This should by all means work though! Unless you are developing for Android device as Wayne mentioned…
nikkistormMemberHi,
I am aware of the test centre not being able to display this, this is happening on the device – iphone – I wil lhave a look and see if I have somethng set incorrectly . . . . Any idea of what it may be
