    Hello,

I have moved to a new piece of hardware and am installing:

MyEclipse (Version: 6.0.1 GA Build id: 6.0.1-GA-200710)
      on Eclipse 3.3.1.1
      on (Sun) jdk1.5.0_15.
on Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition SP 2

The installation proceeds as normal with no errors., but I cannot access any of the MyEclipse features.

    I even reboot after installations.
I go to enter the license codes, so I start up MyEclipse, (expecting to get the post installation steps for Matisse, etc, but they do not happen).

When I pick menu: Window->Preferences…, the Preferences window does appear. But, when I click on the MyEclipse entry in the left panel of the Preferences window, the right panel yields the message (Under the MyEclipse title), “An error has occurred when creating this page“.

A message dialog then pops up titled “Problem Occurred” with the following text:
Unable to create selected preferecne page. (Time….)
    Reason:
    /com/genuitec/eclipse/core/ui/preference/MyEclipsePreferencePage
    (Unsupported major.minor version 49.0)”

Clicking on the Details>> button yields the same message.

I then click on the OK button to dismiss the “Problem Occurred” dialog. Then I expand the “MyEclipse” entry in the left pane of the “Preferences” window. I only see the following entries under it:

      +Files and Editors
      Image Editing
      Subscription

    +UML

      Code Generation
      Reverse Engineering

    +XDoclet

      Build
      +Code Assist
      Templates
      Variables

All the MyEclipse features are missing!

Clicking on any of the (leaf node) entries, such as Subscription, Image Editing, Templates results in the same message dialog as described above.

Trying to open a perspective using “Window->Open Perspective” only shows only MyEclipse Image Editor and MyElcispe UML. Using “Window->Open Perspective->Other” does not show any of the other nifty MyEclipse Tools.

I have installed and reinistalled enough times (bot Eclipse and MyEclipse) to know I need help.

Your support and/or suggestions is much appreciated

    Reagrds,

    Will

    Will,
Can you go to our download page and grab hold of the MyEclipse All in One installer. Now using the All in One installer, setup MyEclipse to a brand new location.

Let me know if it works.

    Nipon,

I will try this, but I am rather tightly controlled in terms of versions of software I can use.

I have seen articles on doing “clean installs”, is that next best thing you would suggest?

    Thanks,

    Will

    Will,
Like you mentioned, you have already tried reinstalling using the installer you have but it didn’t work and the issue that you have reported has symptoms of a corrupt install written all over it. We dont have the MyEclipse 6.0.1 All in One installer available on our download page but incase you want to stick with 6.0.1, I’ll pm you the link to the 6.0.1 All in One installer.

    Nipun,

Actually, I would really appreciate it if you could send me the link to the 6.0.1 All-In-One.

I will in the meantime, try a clean re-install, and if that doesn’ t work try the 6.0.1 All-InOne installer, and if that does not work then the 6.0 All-In-One.

    Many thanks,

    Will

    Nipun,

I am having the same problem with 6.5.1 GA. Here are the versions that I’m using:

    Windows XP SP2 Pro
    Sun JDK 150_11
    Eclipse 3.3.1.1
    MyEclipse 6.5.1 GA

    Here is what I did:

    1. Install a fresh install of eclipse 3.3.1.1 (europa)
    2. Ran the Software Updates to pull down any patches / updates
    3. Restarted eclipse
    4. Downloaded and extracted the MyEclipse 6.5.1 GA Discovery Site
    5. Followed the instructions for performing a manual install.
    6. Restarted eclipse
    7. None of the MyEclipse features are availble, such as editors etc.

I think there may be a problem with the manual install stuff.

I really don’t want to use the All-in-one.

    Guys,
I hope you’ll are working with the Eclipse Classic version.

Can you grab the latest version of Eclipse and start over again. I guess that should resolve the issue.
