support-michaelKeymasterCan you share details:
1) tell us about your android devices, e.g., device and android version?
2) how big is your app, e.g., file size, number of images, number of screens…
2a) if you create a super simple android app, let’s say it contains 1 image, how long does it take to launch such a trivial appOctober 20, 2012 at 11:03 am #331512
StevenOlenskyMemberI am having the same problem, app size does not matter much. Is there any way to have a splash screen on Android? This would at least let the users know the app is alive.

We have it in the queue to introduce android splash screens but that is a loaded issue on android. There are many android display sizes.

StevenOlenskyMemberI have a Galaxy Nexus and Google Nexus 7, both running 4.1+. They both display a black screen for around 4-6 seconds before the first page displays. In addition to the startup page that contains a static list, the app has a couple of pages that contain an HTML wizard that has links to images. Are these pages loaded before the app starts, and if so is there any way to have them load when they are rendered?
Any kind of splash screen or loading message that instantly displays would solve the problem, I have users that report the app is locking up because they don’t wait for the app to start.

support-michaelKeymasterHi steveo,
We have wanted to get android splash screen support into the product for some time. Our native dev guys are evaluating some implementation options over the next few days. We will keep you posted on if we can get this feature scoped for an upcoming release. Please ping us here if you don’t hear back from us in 7-10 days.

hunnicuttzMemberI’m still having the loading problem, any updates?
October 26, 2012 at 1:50 am #331711
support-michaelKeymasterDid you provide us info on device and version of android as requested?
As @steveo shares there is a minimal startup cost for an android app. This startup performance varies based on device processor and version of android on our test devices. We are working on 2 things: 1) to better understand the startup performance and where it can be improved and 2) to provide startup image support similar to the iOS startup image configuration.

hunnicuttzMemberIt is happening on every Android phone that we try. The app is large but didn’t take very long to load before the software update that you just did. It takes at LEAST 10 seconds to load the app now.
