    I’ve had a MyEclipseIDE subscription for exactly one year, and now it has finally expired. However, I’m not ready to purchase a new subscription because my company is allocating this cost in its next budget. So, I need to wait at least 2 months before I get a new subscription which is ok, I just won’t upgrade my IDE version until then. The annoying thing is that everytime I save a file of a type that MyEclipseIDE supports, I get the dreaded “Your Subscription has Expired…” pop-up. Since I save files quite frequently, especially the one I’m currently editing, I find I’m often distracted and intruppted by these pop-ups. I want to be able to continue using this IDE plugin without having these pop-ups getting in the way. I feel that the makers of MyEclipseIDE (Genuitec L.L.C) are forcing me to make a decision to either pay right away for a continued subscription or make me uninstall the plugin (for which I’ve already paid for a year ago). Having the pop-ups everytime I open a file or save a file makes the ide plugin very unpleasant. When I purchansed the subscription last year, the very long subscription license agreement mentioned that apon the subscription expiring I would be able to continue using the plugin but was not able to get updates… well I find it difficult to continue to use the plugin because of all the pop-ups. What can I do to stop the popups for the next two months without having to purchase a new subscription and without having to uninstall the plugin?

    I’ve asked someone from our subscriptions department to respond to your questions.

    Christopher;

    We are sorry to hear about your company’s decision to postpone the budgeting cycle for at least two months. Accountants sometimes loose sight of what is truly important and forget that people still have to get things done.

    As for being annoyed by the constant reminder to renew your subscription, you can contact us at the subscription department. We would be glad to provide a brief extension key to help you through a critical project.

    The only way to disable the reminder messages is to provide an active subscription information by renewing your account.

    It is never our intention to force anyone to make a decision. If fact, the ability to abandon MyEclipse in favor of an alternative solution is what keeps us up late at night trying to add value through new features and services. At the same time, we have to keep the light on. MyEclipse pricing was based on a subscription model to make it truly affordable around the world. We would not have been able to offer MyEclipse at current price under a traditional perpetual license.

    We have gone to great length to clarify the MyEclipse license and subscription information. The license agreement doesn’t discuss the mechanics of the subscription model. We have made it very clear however, in the FAQ section that the MyEclipse will discontinue to work upon expiration. We have since made it possible to continue using the workbench in the event of long purchase cycles of budget delays.

    As I mentioned earlier in this note, we would be glad to provide a temporary key to help you through a critical project.

    Best Regards
    Jim K.
