ratsimhaMemberHi Team ,
I am facing an issue with memory parameters while using My Eclipse
Every Time I Open the IDE after 5-10 Min I have this message that Pops up and the Eclipse Shuts Down. The Message is as FollowsMyEclipse has detected that less than 5% of the 64MB of Perm Gen (Non-heap memory) space remains.
It is strongly recommended that you exit and restart MyEclipse with new virtual machine memory
parameters to increase this memory; failure to do so can result in data loss.Recommended memory arguments:
-vmargs
-Xmx768m
-XX:MaxPermSize=384m
-XX:ReservedCodeCacheSize=64m
I Have google on the problem and found solutions from this forum asking for changing the memory parameters in eclipse.ini file
I Have made the following changes in the file as below
-startup
plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.2.0.v20110502.jar
–launcher.library
plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.win32.win32.x86_1.1.100.v20110502
-showsplash
org.eclipse.platform
–launcher.XXMaxPermSize
256m
–launcher.defaultAction
openFile
-vmargs
-Xms40m
-Xmx1024m
-XX:MaxPermSize=512m
-XX:ReservedCodeCacheSize=128m
-d32
-Dosgi.locking=noneBut this doesnot solve the issue. Please help me out with this. This has become a serious show stopper for us.

support-pradeepMemberratsimha,
1) Can you please share the Installation Details from MyEclipse > Installation Summary > Installation Details ?
2) Can you please try these recommended memory arguments which were mentioned by you and check if you can still replicate the issue ?
Recommended memory arguments:
-vmargs
-Xmx768m
-XX:MaxPermSize=384m
-XX:ReservedCodeCacheSize=64mJanuary 13, 2013 at 11:44 pm #334135
support-tonyKeymasterratsimha,
Just to clarify Pradeep’s post, lowering the memory settings has sometimes helped resolve memory issues, though that is rare. It is probably unlikely to help in this case.
In fact, the message you’re getting is not really a problem and may be due to oversensitive settings in an attempt to let the user know when memory may become a problem. In your case, the PermGen space is nowhere near the maximum allowed and would likely be ramped up, as necessary, until the maximum is reached (which doesn’t seem to be likely, here). The messages were not uncommon in some setups of some earlier releases. Your answer to Pradeep’s first question will help us determine whether you are on an earlier release and so whether an update to the current release would help. In any case, we would always recommend upgrading to our latest release, since you will then get the benefit of fixes and features that have been added. Your license allows you to install all releases while your license is valid.
To recap, the message you see doesn’t indicate a problem, at this stage but may be resolved by upgrading to the latest release of MyEclipse.
I hope this helps.
