I installed M8 in preparation for this week’s ME point release, but now that 3.7.2 is out, I’m not having any luck at all installing it. I tried installing ME onto the existing install, but looking through the plugins directory, there’s no hint of genuitec or any other ME add ons. So I installed a clean copy of M8 elsewhere on my HD and tried again, but the same thing.. the installer ends and everything looks fine, but the only folder under eclipse root that has any hint of ME is ‘links’.

    – System Setup ——————————-
    Operating System and version: win2k
    Eclipse version: 3.0M8
    Other installed external plugins: none
Number of plugins in the <eclipse>/plugins directory that begin with org.eclipse.pde.*:
    MyEclipse version:
    Eclipse JDK version: 1.4.2._04
Are there any exceptions in the Eclipse log file? no log file found

    ug. maybe I’m wrong.
the way I was testing was to create a ‘web project’ as in previous ME releases.. but I just noticed the MyEclipse menu, with the ‘add webproject capabilities’.. ahem.

    ivar,
Just for future reference MyEclipse is ‘installed’ into Eclipse via the \links file. If you look in it, it points to the MyEclipse dir. This is attractive for us and allows your Eclipse environment to remain “clean” since MyEclipse is such a sizable addition to Eclipse.

If you click Help->About and see a MyEclipse icon, then MyEclipse is installed. You can also check the Window > Preferences > MyEclipse entry to make sure the entries exist. And lastly you can open the MyEclipse perspective just to make sure 😉

arg. the ‘getting started’ tutorial still specifies the old way of creating a web project.
When there is up to date docs please post where we can find them ?

    ivar,
These instructions are still correct as they pertain to our stable MyEclipse release (2.x series). I will notify our documentation team that we need updated docs for MyEclipse 3 however. Thank you for the suggestion.
