In my largeish project the package explorer displays all the packages in a (very) long list.

Is it possible to make it display them is hierarchical tree-like manner?
So I have to click on “com” then the sub-packages to get to where I want view the files?

That would be preferable from my perspective.

    TIA

Definately. In the top of the view, there is a down arrow, on the right side, click it and go down to “Package Presentation” then select Hierarchical.

OR you can add a package filter (Window > Prefs > Java > Appearence) that compresses the common package names from something like:
    com.mycompany.myproject.BLAHBLAH
    TO
    c.m.m.BLAHBLAH

or whatever you want, depending on the mask… e.g.:
    com.my.my.BLAHBLAH

    Wonderful! Many thanks….

Now, directly underneath my “src” dir I have a longish list of the libs that my app uses – one for each jar file in the lib dir.
They clutter up the package explorer and in my context there is little point in having them there because they dont change very often.

Is it possible to hide these also?

Definately. There are two ways, one is to click the down arrow again and go down to Filters and then uncheck one of the boxes that relates to libraries or you can simply add a *.jar filter at the top and they will be filtered out.

Many thanks again – excellent support.

A final question for now – is it possible to suppress the “(ASCII -kkv)” that appears after filenames in the package explorer?

I think you mean the information comming from CVS? Then the answer is yes, go to Window >Prefs > General > Appearence > Label Decorations. From there you can turn off any decorations CVS is adding like version info, the ASCII stuff, etc.
