Somehow I had managed to install SVN into 6.5.
We have a firewall so I need to use a local copy of the plug-in (which I have). In 7.1.1 I was able to define a local site and it showed several features which I selected.
After telling it to install I kept getting firwall popups.
Apparently it still insisting on trying to go offsite. When I was done, no SVN was intalled.
The MyEclipse dashboard shows SVN in the list of plugins, but when I click Install nothing happens. Even the Finish button is not enabled. There is no apparent way to delete all the other items in the list. Now when I click on any Software Updates option I just get a firewall popup and nothing happens.
This is totaly frustrating.
I cannot find ANY accurate instructions for 7.1.1.
If MyEclipse cannot handle a simple thing like loading a local plug-in, then I give up.
This is too hard to manage.
These are the kinds of problems I paid for MyEclipse to handle for me.

Sorry to hear you are running into these issues. I would recommend you to set your proxy details by following these steps –
1. Click on Window > Preferences > Pulse > Network Settings
2. Add the proxy settings details. Choose Maximum compatibility as communication mode. It that doesn’t work choose Native Java network connectivity. How did you add a plugin locally? If you have the SVN plugin, you can also copy and paste to [MyEclipse installation dir]\dropins. You need to copy the features and plugins to this folder.
In case you have a local update site of SVN, you need to click on Help > Software Updates > Add/Remove Software.
Next click on [Add]. Click on [Add Local] and follow the steps. If the problem is that SVN shows installed but you cannot see the options. Click Window > Customized Perspectives. Choose commands window. Now look for SVN. Select SVN checkbox and click [OK]. This will add appropriate menu items.
In case none of the above works, can you copy and paste your installation details here? You can get it from MyEclipse > Installation Summary > Installation Details. Also, look for pulse2.properties file, you can find it under ~\Genuitec\Common\configuration\pulse2.properties and copy and paste pulse.handshake.id for me? This will help me do a lookup into our server logs for any errors recorded.
Ton HuismanMemberThe SVN plugin version that worked fine with ME 6.5 does not necessarily work with ME 7.x, as 6.5 is based on Eclipse 3.3, and the 7.x line is based on Eclipse 3.4
You are (supposedly) advised to use the Subversive plugin that can quite easily be installed from the MyEclipse Dashboard, but that does require access to the internet. Installing by dropping the plugin into the dropins folder also should work, but be sure to get a compatible version.HTH

support-joyMemberThanks Ton.
flawlor,
As Ton points out, please ensure that SVN plugin you are trying to install is compatible to Eclipse 3.4.1(for ME 7.1.1)My firewall won’t let me update using the wizards.
After a google search Ifound two sites which provide SVN downloads: subclipse.tigris.org and http://www.eclipse.org/subversive. The latest version of eclipse they say they support is 3.2!
The second site mentions at least two components to download, but it isn’t clear whch of the options for the second one (connector) I need.
This is terribly frustrating.
Can anyone provide some simple directions?
– what URL has the SVN version I need?
– what do I download?
– where do I put the download?
support-joyMemberflawlor,
ME 7.5 comes with subversive plugin. You are on ME 7.1.1, below are the steps to quickly add subversive/subclipse.
1. Click on Help > Software Updates > Add/Remove Software
2. Click on [Add]
3. On the search window enter either “Subversive” to add Subversive plug-in. Or enter “Subclipse” to add Subclipse plug-in.
4. Select the plugins to be added to MyEclipse and click on [Launch].
5. You will be prompted to restart your computer at this point you must click on [Yes] to restart.Let me know if this helps.
I downloaded and installed 7.5.
When I try the above directions and selected Subversion it flooded me with firewall popups (which I had to cancel).
Finally It showed a screen saying it could not contact a big list of sites. Did I want to proceed with Launch.
When I said yes I just got the popup:“An unexpecte error occurred validating he selected profile. Reason: This profile cannot be resolved because required software could not be located.”
When I re-invoked add remove it showed Subversion still selected and I could not unselect it.
Here are the details of the error:
This profile can not be resolved because required software could not be located.

support-joyMemberflawlor,
I will have a dev team member assist you with this issue. Sorry for the inconvinience.
Scott AndersonParticipantflawlor,
In Joy’s first response to you she had some instructions about changing the network settings to allow connectivity to the update sites. You never mention that you tried those suggestions or what the result was. The reason I ask is that those changes will resolve this issue in the vast majority of cases and will likely address your setup as well. It will make things much easier going forward for all updates if we can get those to work. Can you please try them and let us know the results?
If for some reason you’ve got a firewall that allows no connectivity with any settings you can downloaded the Subversive archive of the Subversive, unzip it to a directory, and from within MyEclipse select “Help > Software Updates… > Add/Remove Software…> Add > Add Local”. Then select the directory ‘eclipseplugin-subversive-0.7.3-src’ contained where you unzipped the archive. Once that’s been read you can expand the update site and select the Subversive features you want to install.
I tried all the settings she suggested and I get the same results.
I’ll see if I can download the archive.Winzip kept having problems with the downloads from subversive so I looked for other 0.7 downloads and found one on eclipse.org.
I followed your directions and it installed.
Everything seemds to be working.
Thanks.
Scott AndersonParticipantflawlor,
That’s excellent news. Thanks for letting us know.
