    Hi,

I’m on Windows XP and for some reason can’t get MyEclipse to startup at all anymore, as of today. It was up in the morning and then couldn’t restart, even rebooted and it didn’t help.

How do I increase logging or turn it on. I see under Common\logs there are some logs but nothing that helps.

    bendakafka,

Sorry to hear you are facing this issue. Does it show any error at the time of startup of MyEclipse? Can you take a screenshot or copy and paste the message here for me?
If you have pulse, we can do a quick fix. You can open pulse explorer, click on MyProfiles. Select MyEclipse 7.0 under MyProfiles. Now right click on MyEclipse 7.0 and click on [Run]/[Install and Run]/[Re-install and Run].
If you don’t have pulse, I will need more information from you – Can you verify if you have config file under your MyEclipse installation folder? Please copy and paste the contents here.

I do have pulse. Never ran it before when I clicked on it , it said it was initializing but nothing really happened that i could see.

    The pulse log shows

    myeclipse.ini is
    -startup

    –launcher.library

    -vmargs
    -Xmx512M
    -XX:MaxPermSize=192M

Again, nothing shows up on the screen so can’t tell what is wrong at all.

    Ben,

With nothing showing up at all its almost like MyEclipse is hitting some native Java interaction and dying… can you relate the dying of MyEclipse to some event like applying an update? or you just shut it down (for lunch or something) and now it won’t come back up?

Are you behind a proxy at work? Do you happen to know if it’s an NTLM proxy?

I don’t have firewall issues as the updates downloaded… which I can see from the logs. My other version of Eclipse works fine.
Are there any debug options MyEclipse uses so we can see a trace of it’s death. All the directories in the .ini file exist.

The problem which, went away when I re-enabled a symantic virus protection service, appears to be related to the upgrade to 7.1 and the rtvscan service having been stopped. Is there a way to rule back to 7.0 or is the easiest way to just uninstall. We have security protocols that probably watch our registry as we’re only aloud “approved” versions of a product

Good to hear that you have everything under control. I’m afraid you cannot rollback to 7.0 as 7.1.1 is the latest in the series of 7.x releases. Currently the download of 7.0 is not available, you can only download the latest ME 7.1.1. If you need ME 7.0 and cannot work with ME 7.1.1, can you post a mail to support@genuitec.com and refer to this thread, please add Attn: Joy in the subject. I will see what can be done for you.
