Hi,

I’m using ME 2015 and I can’t seem to enable the MyEclipse-Web Services Tool Bar item that enables the creation of a Web Services Client. Via the Customize Perspective dialog, I enable the MyEclipse-Web Services command group, then the tool bar item visibility, press OK and nothing. When I go back and check the Customize Perspective dialog the items are unchecked. I tried resetting the Perspective a number of times and still can’t seem to get the tool item to appear.

This toolitem appear to be unique as it seems to be the only want to create a JAX-WS client.

Suggestions?

Carlos,

There have been a number of long-standing issues with eclipse perspective customization. It looks like there has been a lot of work on this for the Mars release so, hopefully, this will be much better in our next major release (2016), which will be based on eclipse Mars.

However, the toolbar icons you mention should be enabled by default, after installation, so I’m not sure why you don’t see them. Did you make any customizations previously, which removed them? You could try resetting the perspective. Also, please check that the MyEclipse Web Services command group is enabled (from the Command Groups Availability tab in the Customize Perspective dialog) as per the attached screenshot.

For other ways of creating web services, just right click on your web services project and select New->Other. In the New wizard, type “web service” to see the entries related to web services. Select the Web Service entry and go from there.

Thank you for the prompt response. Yes, I figured out that the Web Services I was looking for was under the MyEclipse tree node in the New dialog.

I tried resetting my Perspective a few times. Couldn’t get it to reset. I’ll ignore this issue (now that I have the alternative route to the features) till Mars comes out.

I’m glad you managed to find the alternative way of getting to the new web service wizard. Yes, the perspective issues have been hanging around for a long time, so, hopefully, the Mars work will fix most of them. However, I should mention that we’ve sometimes had success in resetting by opening a new workspace window (Window->New Window) and then closing the old one.
