mangelo123ParticipantI’ve downloaded the installation .exe twice. I’m sure I have the right version. It takes a long time to get to the Cancel / Allow dialog, then it takes even longer to display the “Preparing…” dialog. It takes a very long time to get to 3%. It finally gets to 10% and then never gets past there.

mangelo123ParticipantI decided to wait, and wait, and wait….. Eventually, I did get the 7.1 installation splash screen for a few seconds. Then I got this:
An error occurred while collecting items to be installed
Unable to write to repository:
file:/C:/Users/Angelo/AppData/Local/Genuitec/Pulse ExplorerI did run the set up as administrator

support-joyMemberHi mangelo123,
Sorry for the inconvinience. To understand your problem better can you tell me what is your system configuration, internet bandwidth speed and if you are behind any firewall/proxy?
Can you PM me your log files –
1. Go to <Genuitec Install Dir>\Common directory and ZIP the entire /logs dir.
2. Also can you grab me your <workspace dir>\.metadata\.log files
and send both of those to me as attachmentsMarch 16, 2009 at 9:59 am #296115
mangelo123ParticipantI am using Windows Vista. My internet speed and firewall has nothing to do with this. I have already downloaded the huge .exe installtion. I do have a broadband connection. What I reported above is what happens when I try to install ME 7.1. How can I go to the Genuitec Install Dir when ME won’t install? That doesn’t make any sense.

mangelo123ParticipantI am a paying customer and cannot install your product. This is putting me WAYYYY behind! Can someone please respond?

mangelo123ParticipantStill can’t install. After waiting over 30 min the install splash comes up and I still get this:
An error occurred while collecting items to be installed
Unable to write to repository:
file:/C:/Users/Angelo/AppData/Local/Genuitec/Pulse ExplorerMarch 17, 2009 at 2:51 am #296176

mangelo123ParticipantHas anyone gotten ME 7.1 to install on Vista or XP? I just tried on XP Pro and the results are a little different. The progress bar begins right away and progresses just fine. When it gets to the ME splash dialog it says “Preparing installer components…” and then never continues. This is very very frustrating!

pppooleMembermangelo123… i think your problem IS a firewall issue. There is another post for this same issue on Win XP and it is b/c it is trying to download jars from the internet via a direct connection. If you are behind a firewall, this is the problem…

mangelo123ParticipantAre you saying that after I download the huge 600+ mb installation file that more files are being downloaded by the install? What could possibly need downloaded after that huge download? If this is the problem with XP (which is my machine at work behind a firewall) then what would the problem be with Vista (at home without a firewall). See above error that I am getting with Vista.
Also, are you saying that since I am behind a firewall at work that I can’t install your product?

pppooleMembermangelo123… i do not work for MyEclipse… I am a frustrated user who has run into this problem myself and wanted to give you an explanation since the team at MyEclipse has yet to do so. I have a team that is unable to upgrade because of this. That said… yes, i AM saying that after downloading that huge file, it seems to need more. It has something to do with “Pulse”. I have not found a workaround for this problem and i have no intention of wasting my time on it… so, i am just guessing, but i would say until someone at MyEclipse provides a workaround, no you cant install this product at work b/c you are behind a firewall.
As far as Vista goes, I do not know, I have not tried to install it on my vista box at home, so I am unfamiliar with that issue.

mangelo123ParticipantMy apologies and sympathies! This has to be the worst ME distro since the beginning. I have been here since 2003 and I don’t recall it ever being this bad!!

Riyad KallaMemberGuys, I’m sorry for the delay in responding, the issue is a bug in the installer attempting to get online and timing out with the requests, that is why it takes so long to get to the splash screen. Although at home it should install rather quickly (with a standard network setup).
We have a fix for this going into some updated installers we will get on the site (including Pulse 2.4.1 and MyEclipse 7.1.1) later this week, but for now the first thing I would suggest trying (to confirm if it’s the issue or not) is the following:
1. Run the installer normally, not as administrator
2. Disable your network interface to put your computer offline before launching the installerIf that does the trick and works, then that bug should be fixed shortly. If that doesn’t fix it, then there are some other things we can try.
