I installed the CDT platform and related tools into a Linux All-in-one version of MyEclipse 8.5. The CDT platform and tools are visible in the Personal Software section of the Add/Remove software panel but there is no CDT perspective and no views that allow me to access the platform.
I tried to install the CDT manually, using the CDT download tar ball, but the new organization of myeclipse files makes it impossible to know where to deploy the plugins, etc. I tried extracting the CDT files to the myeclipse folder that the MyEclipse installer created but that doesn’t work. I was fearful about extracting to the pulse explorer or common folders that were created by the myeclipse installer in the root/ folder, because the CDT package includes config files of the same names as myeclipse uses.
Why does the software show up as being installed but is not usable in myeclipse? The new pulse deployer seems to be in the way from being able to manually deploy anything inside of myeclipse. I have posted before about this new pulse deployer and I am losing faith in Genuitec’s ability to keep eclipse an open platform. It appears that I am getting locked into capabilities that Genuitec chooses and this is making MyEclipse much less appealing to me and I am very close to pulling away from it, instead of bringing it to the rest of my team.
