ntsMemberI am developing a web-application with struts (MyEclipse 4.0.3 GA). I recently had to add a few actions to the struts-config and wanted the editor to auto-layout the design-view again. So i renamed the old .mex file and let the workbench generate a new one. The result was that the layout algorithm split the actions and the jsp’s into two big blocks. Actions on the upper half and jsps on the lower half. With hundreds of actions and jsps you can imagine what that layout looks like. Something similar to a spider-web.
With former versions of the layout engine the layout was nearly perfect and a bit of a heart-opener to view 😉 but now i have this unbelievable mess here.
Can someone help me?

Riyad KallaMemberala,
Sorry to hear you ran into this problem, there is a “Refresh layout” key on the toolbar while in the designer view, have you tried hitting that and see if the layout improves?I am not aware of any changes in the layout algo, but I will double check.

ntsMemberHi. If you mean the “refresh Flow view” button then i already tried it.
For what i believe it could have something to do with the amount of actions configured in the struts-config.
i could send you the old and the new struts layout file if this could help.November 15, 2005 at 7:52 am #241502
Riyad KallaMemberYes that would help, please email them to support@genuitec.com ATTN Riyad with a link to this post so I know why I’m getting the files. Also clearly note which one is old and which new.
Thank you

Riyad KallaMemberArmin,
Thank you for sending the file. I see what you mean by how horrible the new layout is. Although I checked with the developers and nothing changed. I would like to add that if you switch to your navigator view, and erase the .struts-config.mex file, and close and reopen your struts-config.xml file the layout seems to be fixed. In my own testing with your file, I was unable to reproduce the “crappy” layout, but was able to recreate the “good” layout many times.November 15, 2005 at 12:35 pm #241540
Brian FernandesModeratorArmin,
Even without deleting your existing mex file, there is an Auto Layout option under the View menu; what it does it simply re-organizes your existing nodes and connections.
Did you try that out?Best,
Brian.November 22, 2005 at 7:52 am #241901
ntsMemberHi guys.
Thanx for the help. i tried the tip brian gave me and it worked perfectly. I couldn’t reproduce the layout error again myself. I believe it could have something to do with windows going into suspended mode. I often let my Computer run over night and just log in the next day, so perhaps this could have caused the problem.
sorry for bothering you and thanx again for the help.
Best Regards

Brian FernandesModeratorArmin,
It’s no bother, that’s what we’re here for. Glad it’s working for you now.
