I try to update myeclipse 4.0 GA using the update manager but nothing happens.

Maybe it is because when I try to browse this url (http://downloads.myeclipseide.com/downloads/products/eworkbench/updates-4.0/) I get a ‘403 Forbidden’ http error from your web server.

How are you trying to upgrade? Please walk me through the steps you are taking.

I’m having an issue trying to update via the built-in update system.

Everything works fine until the application tries to verify the downloads. The system then hangs and I get the following error.

Unable to complete action for feature "MyEclipse Enterprise Workbench" due to errors.
Unable to complete action for feature "MyEclipse Application Server Tooling" due to errors.
Unable to retrieve remote reference "http://downloads.myeclipseide.com/downloads/products/eworkbench/updates-4.0/plugins/com.genuitec.eclipse.easie.jetty_4.0.1.jar". [Connection timed out: connect]

That being said, it’s also downloading version 4.0.2 of the myeclipse workbench. Why is it downloading a version that hasn’t been announced on here?

Are you behind a firewall? It is possible that is causing the timeouts.

Additionally 4.0.2 was released just the other day, we haven’t made an announcement yet because it was a minor release to fix a single show stopping bug in the HTML designer.

I tried again using the myeclipse update site, and was met with the same type of error.

I’m behind a router, but unless you’re/eclipse is using some nonstandard port, that shouldn’t be an issue. I have no issue downloading the files. The problems start when the download is being verified.

I don’t want to uninstall/reinstall. Please let me know if there is another way I can update.

    jfgeiger,
We double checked all the files on our server and all of them are as they should be. What you could try and do is download the archived update site from our downloads section and just point locally at that, that will run the update no problems.

If you want to try and troubleshoot what is going on, you can try and tracert to our downloads.myeclipseide.com server and see if you are getting any timeouts along the way that could cause the problem.

    Hi,
I have the same problem but update stops at com.genuitec.eclipse.easie.jetty_4.0.1.jar

The strange issue is that network stops at all and therefore timeout error occures.
I did not check if routing table had changed (I thought that was a hardware failure).

Another thing I noticed is [text/plain] encoding for those jar files and when you click on this link from FireFox
    http://downloads.myeclipseide.com/downloads/products/eworkbench/updates-4.0/plugins/com.genuitec.eclipse.easie.jetty_4.0.1.jar
it will show you the text instead of saving the file. Maybe it is not the problem but I mention that in case it helps.

I will check the network problem later and let you know why it stopped (If I can find out).

    Regards,
    Jurgis

    Jurgis,
Let us know what you find with the network, I just performed an update on 2 machines here (separately) and both worked as expected. But I have even had problems with the update mechanism before with other plugins, so I know it can be finicky.

I updated MyEclipse at work without any problems still can not do it at home.
As I said earlier, network suddenly stopped for ~6-7 minutes and installation was
aborted. The problem occurs when everything is downloaded and I press
    [Install All] button.

Then after a short while I got such messages:
Unable to complete action for feature “MyEclipse Help Documentation” due to errors.
Unable to retrieve remote reference “http://downloads.myeclipseide.com/downloads/products/eworkbench/updates-4.0/features/com.genuitec.myeclipse.help_4.0.1.jar”. [Connection timed out: connect]

I will download “MyEclipse Archived Update Site – 4.0.2 GA (10/05/2005)” and try to update.

Unfortunately I’m new to Java and Eclipse and do not know how to track and solve such problems.
If somebody could point me where to search for some log files I could troubleshoot
    this problem.

    Regards,
    Jurgis

    Jurgis,
You are doing everything right. The log file is located at: <workspace dir>\.metadata\.log, look near the end, it’s additive in nature. !SESSION denotes every time you run Eclipse.

    #239392

I updated MyEclipse by first downloading “MyEclipse Archived Update Site – 4.0.2 GA (10/05/2005)”.

Unfortunately there are no hints in the log file:
    http://www.it-solutions.lv/~jurgis/tmp/myeclipse_update_log.zip

The update failure is caused by network problems. That’s all I can see.

Well, at least we found a way to get you updated. 🙂

The update failure is caused by network problems. That’s all I can see.

There’s just no telling what it is as the issue could’ve been anywhere between your account in Latvia and our servers in the US.

    Thank you for help!

I also could not update Eclipse 3.1 to 3.1.1 and had a similar problem when
    updating MyEclipse.
Now I uninstalled MyEclipse and deleted Eclipse directory and
started with fresh new Eclipse 3.1.1 and MyEclipse 4.0.2 GA.
