I have just completely reinstalled a fresh version of Eclipse and MyEclipse.
I am using Tomcat 5 as my Application server. It seems well defined in the /window/preferences/myeclipse/Application servers: all Tomcat directories well defined, no optional argumments, “Enabled” checked, JDK 1.5 Ok, etc. No error messages, data is pertistent.
    Manually starting Tomcat works fine.

But when I try to define deployment for a J2EE Web Project, the “Add” button doesn’t show any server at all (or any error for that matter), and no server appears in the list. Same results aftert restarting MyEclipse.

Another problem: I am getting menu items with percentage character (ex: under Window, %ActionSet.menu, and in Preferences/Workbench: %PreferencePage.name): Is this normal?

    System Setup ——————————-
Operating System and version: Windows XP SP2 (French version)
    Eclipse version: 3.1
    Eclipse build id: 200408122000
    Fresh Eclipse install (y/n): 2006/6/21
If not, was it upgraded to its current version using the update manager?
    Other installed external plugins: no
Number of plugins in the <eclipse>/plugins directory that begin with org.eclipse.pde.*: 2
MyEclipse version: 4.1.1 (build id: 20060309-4.1.1-GA)
    Eclipse JDK version: ??
    Application Server JDK version: jdk1.5.0_06
Are there any exceptions in the Eclipse log file? No

If this is a DB related question please answer the following:

    RDBMS vendor and version:
JDBC driver vendor and version, and access type (thin, type-2, etc):
    Connection URL:
Eclipse error logs related to com.genuitec.eclipse.sqlexplorer packages:

If you are running a custom Tomcat install, your Paths panel should be totally empty, you don’t need to add entries to those lists, the connector picks those up automatically.

This is the problem. You are not actually running 3.1, you are running a very early Milestone build of 3.1 which is incompatible with MyEclipse. The final 3.1 release was made in June of ’05. Since you need to reinstall, I would suggest using Eclipse 3.1.2 SDK from the Eclipse side.

    That fixed it!
    Thanks!
