I just wanted to say that I’m really impressed and happy with a couple of new (to me, anyway) features:

    1. Snippets. These are terrific! So many times you need to type in a piece of code you have to look up somewhere. Keep adding more.

    2. Automated update! This is also wonderful. I got the message that I could update to 5.5.1 this morning without doing anything.

Of course all the other new features will take time to digest.

About my only suggestion would be to try to maintain up-to-date tutorials on the features in the product. I’m sure this is really difficult since the product improves so quickly.

In any case, thanks for making this product so awesome!!!

    1) Cool. Glad you like them. Also feel free to add your own (and under the Customize menu you can import/export the collection)

    2) Thank you, this is a core feature of our new partner network. We will start populating the list with “MyEclipse Ceritified” plugins that you can just check off and hit OK and have them installed for you.

So true, this is mostly my fault, I need to get on the ball! 🙂

Maybe I missed this somewhere (did I mention I can’t read these new forums.. Just not usable (colors, hard to find links etc..))…

Anyways. Can I use update Manager to go from 5.5 M2 to 5.5 GA? When I run the update manager it tells me there are no updates available. I really don’t want to use the All in One installer as I’d need to reinstall my other plugins (AndroMDA, EMFT/JET etc..)

    Thanks,
    Gary

If you already have MyEclipse 5.5 M1/M2 installed, you can update it through our update site by selecting ‘Help > Software Updates > Find and Install… > Search for updates of currently installed features’ and following the prompts. If no updates are found, please navigate to Window > Preferences > Install/Update > Valid Updates and turn on ‘compatible’, not ‘equivalent’. That will allow the 5.5 GA update to be selected properly.

When asked, restart the workbench to complete the update. If you experience any obvious problems after the update, the issue is likely that the Eclipse plugin cache has become stale or did not cleanly rebuild after the update. To rectify the problem you’ll need to restart Eclipse with the -clean flag one time:
    eclipse.exe -clean
    That should resolve any issues.

Thanks.. The compatible vs equivalant did the trick! Thanks again for the quick response!
